Sheila E show dates with The Time & Mary Jane Girls
Nick Ashford was someone I greatly admired, had the honor of knowing, and was the real-life inspiration for Cowboy Curtis' hair. RIP Nick. - Pee Wee Herman

Who would have thunk it that The Mary Jane Girls would be on the bill with Prince proteges, remember the shade they use to throw at Vanity 6 back in the day when the Prince v Rick James was at its zenith? Keep Calm & Listen To Prince

Who is in The Mary Jane Girls now? Anyone know? He's in the Big White Mansion. RIP Prince

Well, we all know Cheri and Maxi can't sing a lick. So, unless one of the other chicks have the lungs JoJo used to have, then this lineup is probably a hot mess! "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

"Who would have thunk it that the Mary Jane Girls would be on the bill with Prince protoges?"...I was thinking the same thing..there's NO WAY this would have happened 30 years ago....."remember the shade they used to throw at Vanity 6 back in the day?"......Yup!...But I also remember Shelia dogging out Rick in the press too....but I also think a lot of that "beef" was only in Rick's mind. It made for good entertainment.

It's cool to see them together but doing a track show and not performing with a live band just kills the thrill for me. Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

But then I try to emphathize with the girls having to consider their fees vs. the costs of overhead with a full band, and a tiny part of me says, "okay, fine...go ahead and collect ALL the coint that you can, girls", since we know Sheila & 'nem will do most of the heavy lifting. The MJG will be a warm up act in the truest sense and really just be there for nostalgia and good vibes, I guess. I can't imagine they'd do more than 4-5 joints with some chitter chatter for a half hour's set max, anyway. Just long enough for some middle aged broads to try to mimick their old video choreography after a couple of glasses of Moscato [Edited 7/21/16 5:16am]

I got to see the Stone City Band last summer when they did the Soul Food Music Festival. What would be nice is if MJG went on tour with them and Stone City be their backing band. Stone City was very good last summer. Before Teena Marie passed She, MJG, and the Stone City Band had planned a tour to honor their mentor Rick James. Don't laugh at my funk

That sounds like a fun show you went to, I bet them making a tour with Teena and the girls would have been a stone cold groove. By the way, speaking of Teena, there have been come Tube concert clips uploaded for some of her intimate, club setting shows where she waxes poetic with anecdotes on her old days with Rick, they are HILARIOUS. She's quite the storyteller, with an awesome sense of humor.

I just looked at the show dates and thought about the fact that the ATL is August is hotter than the undercrease of a witch's breast in hell . In addition to all the requisite liquids and libations, make sure you have some OFF! with you, too- so your anti-prehistoric life leeching mosquito game is on point.
