I don't know if Tommy gew up in Mpls but he was in a popular local band here before working with Prince, so I'm guess probably.

Sonny grew up in the same neighborhood as P and his band was actually call "the Family." I presume Prince was feeling nostalgic when he put together his version of The Family. Ha, Sonny should put his band back together. I bet it was funky!
