why did mani leave prince? does anyone know? i know. it doesn't matter now. she is remarried with kids, and he has departed this earth. but when looking at the photo thread, i had forgotten how happy they looked for a time, especially him even in the later years, less her. but i was wondering why she left him? the press announcement at the time said he did not want the divorce but would cooperate to make everything go smoothly. was she daft? tired of all the lavish gifts, the worldwide travel, the fantastic sex? (ok i am making an assumption on that one). sure, no one is pefect, but i just don't get that deal..... "If u love somebody, your life won't be in vain

When I read the part about her being daft, I almost fell out my chair laughing LOL, because I was thinking the same thing! How could she be the one to leave?...

How could she be the one to leave?... i know, right? the more i read about him and watch interviews, the more i am intrigued by him as a person, outside the stage version of him. and the more i like him. i have to conclude that she was young and stupid or just outright wacked. there is no other logical explanation. I don't think it was easy being married to Prince and she was a whole lot younger than he was. Different stages of development can cause difficulties after the romantic period wears off. Why are you assuming she left? Maybe he kicked her to the curb and she didn't have a choice. And I have no idea which one it is, and of course probably somewhere in the middle.

Prince's personal lawyer, Patrick Cousins, confirms that Testolini Nelson is the petitioner. "His wife filed for divorce. This isn’t something that he wanted," says Cousins. prince was saying he was retiring from performing, he didn't say he was going to have kids but he implied it by saying 'i'm going to make room for other things in my life' so maybe he wanted to and when she left it upset plans. Women are generally not very understanding of musicians and the time they like to spend with their instrument so that is probably a huge reason. Ray Parker says he told his wife never to try to compete with this (tapped his guitar) not everyone is willing to tolerate being second fiddle to a guitar.

Don't know if this is true, but I heard (on here I think, some time ago) that he had stopped talking to her and communicating with her at all and she was basically forced to file for divorce.

To be in good standing as one of Jehovah's Witnesses the ONLY GROUNDS for "scriptual" divorse is adultery. Mani could only divorce Prince with JW's blessing if Prince committed fornication. As I've said before I was a JW for 10 years. The odds are high Prince cheated.
