^ fans all around the world who never knew prince personally have been grieving uncontrollably. i've broken down a few times out of the blue thinking about him. just imagine how these people who actually knew him, spent precious time with him, got to know him are feeling.

our (fans) grief isn't questioned even though many of these same fans have criticized the man for his personal behavior, his music, his business practices, etc., so why question the grief of people who actually knew him just cause they may have criticized him in the past too?

Because I'm a bit of a ceptic when it comes to the showbusiness world, sorry. Did not know he and Carmen Electra had "hooked up" in the last years (it seems he was doing that a lot, lately), so felt she was kinda attention seeking as well. Not judging her grief. Not drawing comparrisons. If she grieved as much as I did she must have been a wreck. The difference is I never knew him personally, but then I never badmouthed him for years.

i think we can be to cynical sometimes. prince was not a terrible guy. just cause he was criticized by some he worked with doesn't mean they can't still have affection for him. i fight with my friends/family a lot, but if one died you better believe i'd be grieving and standing up for there memories.

Of course. I did say "when it comes to the showbusiness" world (left out the word "world", I apologize, will edit it), not our normal life experiences and relationships away from cameras, public eye and the lot.

You can still be in love and have a girlfriend and have it be celibate. Long distance relationships are like that and also many older married couples. Sex is only a very small part of romantic relationship.

nod oh, how I know it. sad

That's the one I was trying to think of who seemed to have soem hard feelings still, from what I read recently. Nona Gaye. She felt jilted and never really got over it, but who can blame her.

If Prince and Nona's relationship ended the way that I've read it did, I can't blame her for having hard feelings. I understand that Prince may have chosen Mayte over Nona because of Nona's drug addiction, but the their relationship shouldn't have ended by Prince inviting Nona to a show and then Mayte flashing her engagement ring to Nona. That was just wrong.

If that seriously happened then that's just plain cruel and immature from both Prince and Mayte, no excuses.

Well as the old saying goes, "how you get them is how you lose them", and lart knows that her exit from that union has been described by some former P. employees to have been less than pretty and less than fair...allegedly.

Getting produced and banged by Prince doesn't necessarily make you his woman.

Yes clearly they had something romantic going on. Prince loved the young ladies. I know that's odd that he had that in common with every other guy on earth, but he was unique in so many ways as well.

.

But you can tell she is in such pain and so confused and we can relate to much of that, but sounds even worse for poor Judith.

That heifer is fixing to exploit her Prince affiliation - dont be fooled. SHe is a life long backup singer who still hasnt hit after being with the 2 most talented pop stars in history.

I think there are people that as much as you love them you'll never be "in love" with them. Unfortunately it is often the ones that you WISH you had chemistry with that you simply don't. It doesn't mean that they aren't meaningful parts of your life. They use to use the term "kissing cousins" to describe such couples that have love but lack steam. My gut is that Judith and Prince were like this.

There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. Anais Nin.

Some of the posts in this thread are so extremely disrespectful to someone he obviously cared about. Wow!

Don't tell me no one else here has the Prince clause in their marriage LOL (This thread made me in tears in a good way for once! Eek except for these last posts which took a nasty turn. Sorry if I offended anyone.) [Edited 5/15/16 18:47pm]

Ha ha "Prince clause in their marriage" - that cracked me up!

Never thought to include that in mine 18 years ago: "to have and to hold, til death us do part, forsaking all others - (except Prince)......"

falloff

eek highfive I could of saved my self from 2 hellish marriages if I had put that clause in my vows! biggrin

ok, so he was her mentor, her friend, an inspiration. frankly, nothing different than any of the other emotional tributes we have seen. he said "i love you" to his guy friends, too. i can understand her distress, and i can totally see her falling in love with him, but i don't get the vibe that they were an item. but it was a touching tribute. and sorry to say, it does seem that the ones he was ACTUALLY close to (damaris, esperanza) are not coming forward trying to make the point that they were friends with him or that they were important to him..,the ones who seem to have been especially close to him don't need to shout it from the rooftops, just sayin. i think she was one of several young female muses and friends. whether it felt something more to her, thats up to her heart. i wish her peace in her grief [Edited 5/15/16 14:27pm]

Yes I totally agree with you

The way she stated IMHO, are those of a lover not mentor although he was that

i guess we will all have our opinions, but i did not get that. was she in love with him? quite possibly. did they have the complete metaphysical and common religious type of relationship he has seemingly been waiting for all these years? i doubt it.

of course, it is possible that she thought of their relationship differently than he did. i could see that. i mean, tamron was crushing on him big time but she was not his gf either.

he had a pull, no doubt. but i do think in these later years he was operating on a whole other level, one that transcended the typical lover paradigm. i don't doubt that he loved her as he loved many, but it may not have been what it was to her.

he had spent many years in celibate spiritual study of the bible and immersed in music. i think he was at a level most people never reach in life.
