I have been following her for a while and her reaction to Prince's death has been the most heartbreaking. I really think she thought they would eventually get back together. I watched a clip where she went to get a tattoo of him, and she refuses to call him her ex- husband. She said she never wanted the divorce.
She held on to her wedding China and his outfits until recently. I wonder how often they spoke?
I just feel so sad for her.
She was so young. He was her first boyfriend -- her first everything.
I wonder if their children had survived if they would have lasted ?
It's very interesting she's now friends with his second wife. I wonder why they split?

PS for those downing her for selling her Prince stuff, other people told her she needed to to MOVE ON. She was still holding onto all of that stuff and never got over him. People can be so cruel.

I know she was/is in mourning and all but she has her daughter around when she’s recording herself drunk and pretty much having a meltdown?

Mayte is a sweet woman. I’m a vegan and I love her commitment to animal rights but she has to always hold it together around her daughter.

Keenly, whoever you are it seems as though the only troll on this website is yourself and that is very unfortunate. This is place for Prince supporters and people deeply affected by his passing, life, music, and contributions to our personal lives. We are allowed to have opinions, if you did more than call people trolls then perhaps you would be able to understand everyone is trying their best to get on together and learn more about the man behind the music. Unless you are Mayte, then leave people alone, including myself since you did the same behavior on my post.

I think it's great and she showed a lot of unconditional love since his passing!

I enjoyed seeing her on tour with Prince from 1993 upto 1995. Great dancing and energy!

My best concert memories are from 1995 (Paradiso Amsterdam)

Their love was genuine and I loved the inspiration for the cd Emancipation.

I understand why she feels so sad. We all do and she has a history and a family with Prince.

So I wish her all the best and strength.

Wow..Not to be a Negative Nelly..but I don't like it. I like the center....I would have thought maybe some reference to Ahmir as well since that is what she has spoken about.

She can do what she wants..I had no issue/opinion with her (or Sheila ) wanting one.People express art, pain, etc in different ways. It's just the choice/style would not have been my first choice

I just think it's too big and gaudy (I can't tell if I think it's artistic yet). Too bad she didn't go classier....she is a beautiful woman....

Just my opinion don't hate me for it. Let's face it....They in their mid 40's/50's. Their skin will not be as tight as they age....We can't slow that down. Something so big may not look so nice later...

Oh well..Nice she shared it with everyone... I guess we all have different tastes.

Don't get why she had her 4 or 5 year old in the room during the tattooing. But that is her choice too.

I love it, I think the size of it is appropriate for where it is and what it is.
Any decent tattoo artist knows how to place and size the design appropriately, and it looks Like he did a good job of it .My ex boyfriend is a tattoo artist and many times people will bring in a design that has to be size appropriately , usually bigger to get certain details in .Then again , some people just tell the artist what they want and the artist draws it up, tweaks it until you love it and then its time to Rock n roll. I probably have at least 20-30 friends who are tattoo artist and they all very strongly dislike the tattoo shows as its a false presentation of how it really all works .
It may very well have something in it that represents Ahmir .Many people have tattoos with some little detail in it that represents something to them and it doesn't matter if other people get hit or not, it's not for other people anyway, its for her .
I have tattoos, I'm older than Mayte and I want and will likely get more tattoos .
For all we know that design does represent her ex husband AND her deceased son.
I seriously doubt if when she is 70-80 years old and battling various ailments that come with age she will be worried about her tattoo.
Why would you get a tattoo in memory of someone and make it either too small to see or where it is hidden away .Its something she is proud of and wants to show off, not hide it .

I don't know obviously..but I never saw one. I believe that some Christians believe it to be against what is in the Bible..soI doubt it..unless it is before he became a Calmer Christian.

But Mayte was also pregnant by Tommy Lee and she lost that baby as well. On Hollywood Exes, she said that a doctor told her that in at least in the case with Tommy Lee's baby, the condition was caused by a lack of protein in the diet. She said that she now eats some animal products like eggs and cheese. I know that when you're pregnant you have to get the right types and amounts of protein. I've heard also that vegans and vegetarians tend to have a higher rate of miscarriage than average. I don't know if Mani was a vegan/vegetarian, but if she is or was when she was married to Prince, that may have contributed to her miscarriage. Nevertheless, miscarriages are very common, so it could have just been the luck of the draw.

Never heard that before eek

Mayte was never pregnant by Tommy Lee. He didn't want anymore children. That's why they broke up. He was adament about it and Mayte couldn't take no for an answer. Tommy Lee said that's the only thing they fought about and ultimately it's what led to their break up. I don't know how or where these lies start.

Thanks for that. I thought the tattoo seemed a little big but I don't know much about tattoos. I was also wondering why she chose that spot for it. I like it though. It looks much better in the video then it did in the photograph that was going around. I'm happy for her. People that don't like it should leave her be. It's her journey. We weren't there to witness what she and Prince went through. I know alot of people are worried about her but I really believe that she'll be okay.

People forget that she didn't even talk about Amir until a few years ago when Hollywood Exes was on. She just spoke his name publicly a month ago. Imagine what that must have been like for her. To have people calling her son Boy Gregory all these years? And she didn't get closure from her and Prince's relationship because they didn't speak and she pushed all that pain away. Now that he's gone everything has resufaced. I'm sure her grief is palapble. But it seems like she's got the support of many people who knew and loved Prince as well. (Sheila, Mani, NPG) I think she'll finally be able to find some closure and heal.

I guess if she's thanking folks for it not being painful it's permanent.

It's a very pretty design, kind of bigger than I expected. Hope she'll be ok.

I didn't say to hide it:) That id not what I meant...I just noticed a similarly shaped tattoo on that same arm not that far away..So the new didn't 'grab' me if that makes sense. She has the same (appearing to be) sized ones on her arm, foot/ankle and now there.. My opinion usually with any 'art' is that when it is overstated...things let lost. ..That is just my view...

I get you...yes, indeed there may be a sign for both of them that I am unaware..so maybe she will fill us in...

I stll don't agree w you about the aging skin and tattoos;) Sorry but to me, they do look best on young, moistureized clear skin. That is my opinion. --Let me clarify that...I beleive the larger ones don't look as well on an aged person..JMO;)

Agreed..that is what she said..and that is why I posted what I did...

From what I saw, I just didn't see something about her son in the tatoo ..As I clarified below, perhaps it is there for her to know...and private....and some special meaning. So perhaps I prematurely spoke on that.....But at first glance I just sign the sign and a design outside. My main thing..really was....I just thought it large..sure, proportional to that spot. But she has another tatoo in similar size on the same arm....So the new one didn't 'grab me' as much bc my eyes went to both. It is just my opinion on its appeal lto me (which at the end of the day is irrelevant)..lol..I am not blasting or ragging her out. I think it is fine and perhaps good for her that she got one...

It's all good ! As a person who got my first tattoo over 30 years ago and had a boyfriend who is a tattoo artist who I am still in a friendship with, I get it that not everyone likes tattoos.
People who have tattoos say they are addicting... And they are !
I have a memorial tattoo for an ex fiancé who passed over 30 hrs ago...it was my first and I always wish that it was not in my shoulder as I can't see it !
I've helped my ex boyfriend out in his shop and at first I use to freak out when people would bring a small image in and when he'd draw it up it became bigger lol
But then I got it that sometimes to get the details they want in it has to be bigger..,
Also if you look at that design and imagine it a out half that size , it just wouldn't look right there or fit with the curve of her arm. That spot where she has it is a very popular spot lately for tattoos.
One thing almost all the artist I know detest is lettering....that is the worst for aging skin..,haha imagine how the words can end up looking, and people want small lettering , on aging skin not so good...lettering needs to be bigger .
Tattoos are a very personal thing and I get it that some don't like them.i do think they've lost a lot of th stigma they carried 30 years ago when I got my first one, which is likely why I got it where I could hide it ...
Now I want it where it can be seen lol
Sometimes there will be a design, a letter , sometimes just a dot or something that signifies the meaning to the person getting the tattoo..or it could just be something that reminds them of that person that no one else even understands, but the person getting the ink knows exactly what it means.
My son has a tattoo on his upper arm, shoulder of Rd roses ( for my momma)
A pocket watch ( for his grandpa cause he always played with his pawpaws gold pocket watch when he was little , a turquoise rosary entwined ( my momma )
The time on the pocket watch is the time my mother passed away.He came up with the idea on his own and my boyfriend at the time drew it up and did it .No one just looking at it knows what it means , but he does .
That's what I mean by its for her , not other people .
Does that make sense ?
I'd be willing to say that design means something only known to her or a few ...
[Edited 5/22/16 10:53am]

Wanted to add that the cream they used to numb her is amazing ! I have a tattoo for my son on top of my foot.. Not words, numbers , anything like that , it's probably close to the size of hers, but designed to fit the body contours. To anyone else it's just a sun with a faves a crescent moon wrapped around it and some stars around it ... To me it represents my son as I always told him I love him more than the sun, the moon and the stars , it's probably not my most artistic tattoo...but it's my favorite and I love it .i like the fact that I can look down and see it and don't care if others think it's trashy ..,I understand and respect that they just aren't if the same mindset as me ,
Anyway, the top of the foot, the back and top of the hand and the rib cage are very painful and when my numb started to wear off it was so bad we stopped and put more on,I was crying ! anyone who can do those spots without numb is a tougher person than me !

I've helped my ex boyfriend out in his shop and at first I use to freak out when people would bring a small image in and when he'd draw it up it became bigger lol But then I got it that sometimes to get the details they want in it has to be bigger.., Also if you look at that design and imagine it a out half that size , it just wouldn't look right there or fit with the curve of her arm. Now I want it where it can be seen lol Sometimes there will be a design, a letter , sometimes just a dot or something that signifies the meaning to the person getting the tattoo..or it could just be something that reminds them of that person that no one else even understands, but the person getting the ink knows exactly what it means. My son has a tattoo on his upper arm, shoulder of Rd roses ( for my momma) A pocket watch ( for his grandpa cause he always played with his pawpaws gold pocket watch when he was little , a turquoise rosary entwined ( my momma ) The time on the pocket watch is the time my mother passed away.He came up with the idea on his own and my boyfriend at the time drew it up and did it .No one just looking at it knows what it means , but he does . That's what I mean by its for her , not other people . Does that make sense ? I'd be willing to say that design means something only known to her or a few ... [Edited 5/22/16 10:53am] Wanted to add that the cream they used to numb her is amazing ! I have a tattoo for my son on top of my foot.. Not words, numbers , anything like that , it's probably close to the size of hers, but designed to fit the body contours. To anyone else it's just a sun with a faves a crescent moon wrapped around it and some stars around it ... To me it represents my son as I always told him I love him more than the sun, the moon and the stars , it's probably not my most artistic tattoo...but it's my favorite and I love it .i like the fact that I can look down and see it and don't care if others think it's trashy ..,I understand and respect that they just aren't if the same mindset as me , Anyway, the top of the foot, the back and top of the hand and the rib cage are very painful and when my numb started to wear off it was so bad we stopped and put more on,I was crying ! anyone who can do those spots without numb is a tougher person than me ! Don't you remember that bizarre announcment Prince made in 1999 about the state of their marriage? Was he reducing the risk of private information being compromised or just being, um, Prince?

The Artist Formerly Known as Prince and his wife of three years, Mayte Garcia-Nelson, plan to annul their marriage -- for the time being. They plan to renew their vows in Spain on Valentine's Day of next year. As a sign of their love, they say, they wish to show that their marriage is based upon more than just legal contracts. "Mayte and I are joined for life," the Artist said at a Spanish news conference, "and the best way to demonstrate it is to do away with the legal bonds that people demand."

Didn't P put Manuela on his payroll before he divorced Mayte? I adore Mayte. She is a strong and HONEST woman. She is a class act, unlike Mani.I just do not care for her. She got what she wanted, publicity and his money. And she took the o my thing Mayte wanted, P.

I am only going by what Meltedman has said and he said they are divorced. Meltedman should know since he was right smack dab in that whole mess between Prince and Mayte. Prince used that annullment bullshit to make himself not seem like so much of an ass to the public. There was never going to be a vow renewal or whatever they wete planning to do on the following valentines day. In addition to not really being there for Mayte after the babies died and giving her the emotional support that she needed, Prince cheated on that poor girl. Prince was running back and forth to NY and LA fucking other chicks and Mayte didnt think that was happening until her friends peeped her to his game and gave her the 411 on what he was doing. Mayte never cheated on Prince. Mayte wanted a strong marriage and a family.
Prince gave up on the marriage basically after the the deaths of the kids and shoved that poor girl in the house in marbella and expected her to just go along with it. Mayte always had an angel of sorts on her shoulder during that period and those were people who loved and cared about her and refused to just let Prince fuck her over. The nightclub incident at float really showed Prince's true colors during the last part of that marriage. Prince showed up at the club with his bodyguard. Mayte did not want to see Prince. Dave aka Meltedman was in VIP with Mayte and he knew how she felt and was not about to let her night get fucked up by a purpy little man. Dave went to Aaron(Prince's bodyguard) and told him that they had to leave. Prince was not budging at all until Dave inadverently threatened him by saying that he could get the whole club to whup Prince's bony little ass. Prince never returned to float after that. Mayte had the opportunity many times during that marriage to fuck around that marriage but she remained loyal and believed that they could make it and you really have to admire that given the circumstances. The nightclub incident was just Prince wanting to have control over his wife and not wanting her to have a social life and to be constantly under his spell. If you are 25/26 years old, you will go out and have fun. You might not cheat on your spouse or go to a nightclub but you are going to enjoy your youth. You are going to live it up before the casket drops hun. I think that once P realized his control on Mayte was loosening, then he decided to let her go. Mayte had so much legal power during that divorce and possibly even now when it comes to publishing rights but she wouldnt clean P out then or now. People have called Mayte crazy cause of that whole wedding china fiasco and cause of this recent video but she is not drunk or crazy. Mayte was a woman in love and who is still in love and that is not going to change. Dont expect Mayte to make any crazy claims to P's estate cause she never wanted to hurt him in life and she certainly will not do in death regardless of how Prince hurt her during the marriage and afterwards. You dont hurt the people you love even if they hurt you.
