Me too I know there must be something. Marilyn Monroe starred in the Prince and the Showgirl with Laurence Olivier but his name was not Samuel in the movie. I can't figure out where Samuelle and Valerie come from. Might be interesting to look at that film again.

.

Hmmmm duh i always thought The Prince and The Showgirl was a reference to her and Prince eek

I thought at first too. Now I think Marilyn Monroe being blonde refers to Madonna in her Monroe period. maybe I'm wrong. still trying to figure out who Samuelle and Valerie are.

Additional lyics at the end!!!!! I highlighted some good ones.

.

SAMUELLE by Vanity

.

Samuelle,this is your lover calling,

Samuelle Samuelle, this is your lover calling

Samuelle,do you belong to Marilyn?

I know she could never love your heart like me

I'm quite sure we belong together

.

Oh Samuelle, you cannot tell a lie it echoes across the moon and the sky

Valerie,Valerie,Valerie,this is your conscience calling

Valerie,Valerie,Valerie,I don't wanna hear ya

.

I do recall carnivals were filled up with crazy guys and paper dolls

Thought it would last forever

Oh Samuelle,I'm running down the aisle wedding lace was written all over

I really want you, I really do

I really love you

.

Rap on door rap on door, ring bell, ring bell

naughty little thing,we may never know

the prince and the showgirl,

wonders if never,ever

.

Oh Samuelle,I cannot tell if I sing to you, will you ring my doorbell?

Ring my doorbell, I really want you.

Ring my doorbell, I really do. Ring my bell,

I really love you

.

Time will tell

all those nights I sat up alone and stared at the phone

well I'm calling my shadow, calling * (Prince said looking at her was like seeing a version of himself)

.

Samuelle I cannot let you go

I've thrown all the stones I can throw

Oh! Oh! Ooh hoo hoo I know you love me, you can have me

if you want to

I told you guys I had tried to keep a list of all of Prince's liasons. Here it is, I am sure it is not complete. I don't know if Sheena Easton is confirmed or where to put her. Please feel free to tell me what's wrong or missing if you are at all interested.

For me it was kind of mindblowing. The man had too many options. He lived in a different headspace than us and even Vanity.

Too MANY options is right. UGH. Again, if he was indeed celibate in these last few years, it was a HUGE departure from the lifestyle he was living up in this list. Something must have happened to him- an enlightenment of some sort. SOmething.

He sure had alot of liasons in 85/86, right when he was supposed to be engaged to Susannah. And when Vanity was signalling him early 1986 (doing the Skin on Skin album and showing up at the afterparty in parade costume both happened in May, and May was when she also started dating Nikki Sixx)

he had a record deal with WB not a film deal. so they were not obligated to do the film and passed. Record companies pay so low you would not even believe it, it is almost impossible to make money unless you are a huge star like prince. I was working on a music film some years ago and I shut down the project, all the lawyers and record companies have figured out how to screw you and make a heck of a lot of dough for themselves, it is one of the worst industries and gave me the creeps. They give an advance for a record and then charge you for every possible expense they can think of before truly paying you a dime of royalties. Supporting acts are lucky to make enough to live on. It is make or break for the supporting acts. And as far as salaries I think Prince was responsible for private staff like his hairdresser but I am sure the managers at the time would have been deciding what to pay the supporting acts. Ruffalo and Fargnoli. He had not made the bigtime yet, Purple Rain is what established him as a huge star. He was still an up and coming guy.

That was probably a HUGE factor in him not paying his people that much. I wonder if they understood this? Wasn't it said earlier in this thread that Apples said that Vanity got "laughed out of MPLS" for the amount she was wanting for PR, but if she had hung on, she would've gotten more than she asked?

yeah, I guess all they saw was this guy in a limo making milions while they couldn't pay the rent. The managers and label are going to put the investment in the star not the supporting act. Prince busted his butt to get where he was, not just on the guitar but he realized he would have to stoke controversy and sell sex and he was willing and others like Dez and Andre were not so willing. Vanity I think could have made it had she been tougher like Madonna. but sadly I think her insecurities were triggered by Prince.

I might be wrong but I think Apples was referring to the fame not money. As I understand it she was offered a flat fee of 5k. She needed a cut of the royalties to make this pay financially.I am not exactly sure of her role but I think she had a legitimate claim to a cut of the script writing. And it was her life story. I hope Prince settled with her and gave her something. Maybe Apples doesn't know exactly what happened. And maybe they did laugh at her. I think there was a line in her diary about deciding it was better not to do a lawsuit.

Well Apples is laughing all the way to the bank cause she has her own multimedia entertainment company. Looks like her company has by special arrangement: Julian Lennon, Lil Kim, Lionel Richie, Evan Ross, Steven Tyler.

Ok, I think did misinterpret the fame vs. money. Vanity still had people coming to her to do movies after she renounced "Vanity" and then had her faith conversion. So as far as talent goes, Vanity was in the upper stratosphere waaay above Apples. That comment was peppered with jealousy.

.

Vanity was certainly entitled to a cut from PR for her part in scripting it with Prince. I think she left him partly because of the money aspect, and maybe I'm wrong, but I think it had more to do with matters of the heart.

I might be wrong but I thought Cat denied a 'relationship' as in close emotional intimacy with expectations, I believe she admitted to being involved physically on the tours and Sheila E admitted it too I believe.the three of them.

Apollonia denied a relationship. The diary and Hahn's book say there was a fling. Hoffs admitted to dating him but that it was an 'awkward longdistance relationship'. Easton is not down in my list. I will have to check what Damaris and Vanessa said.

I did not put her down. But I did read that she was involved with him, that came from an insider. I don't think that is enough by itself so I didn't put it down.

I can imagine alot of women would deny it, even if it were true, especially because his reputation was so bad.

She is no high roller in Hollywood..if so current stars, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Laurence, Jennifer Aniston, Meryl Streep, Giselle Buncheon, Matthew Mconaghey, Angelina Jolie, Bradley Cooper, etc...all the big names would be with her, i doubt these people ever heard of her.

And a ''special arrangement'' is a nice way of saying they got other representation.

its like Prince himself looked his best with Vanity. After her he became a creep, screwing every chick that looked vaguely like her. When he converted he gave off a kind of prude vibe. He was just right with vanity because her passion complemented his. None of the other girls came close. No shade to them, but it was about the chemistry between Vanity and Prince.

Wendy and Lisa never liked Vanity and that never changed and re Matt Fink's comments, that proves the Revolution was never down with V.

The rest of the Bangles, esp the one, can't remember her name were scared that Prince would take away Susannah and they didn't like that his attraction to her made her the focal point of press attention. I don't know how much a google search would turn up, but the Bangles had some very nasty comments put out there that were directed at Susannah and Prince. It was all over the pop magazines back in the day-Smash Hits, etc.

As far as Apples, I heard another story. One of those quickie bios that came out after Purple Rain on Prince talked about how Apples didn't exactly fit into the Minneapolis milieu. Jill implied that Apples was kind of Hollywood. Her stand in even said Apples was seriously lacking and I heard rumors, stories of certain Purple politicians laughing behind Apples' back. I find it very interesting how the Time never seemed to cotton to Apples.

And now that i think about it, it's pretty fucking strange that Apples never could get a role in another major movie other Purple Rain. I mean, not even a supporting role. That's very, very odd. It could be in part because Apples ran with that heavy metal crowd. In addition to David Lee Roth, she also dated Robin Crosby of Ratt-he later died of AIDS. There were other guys in that crowd that she dated.

He really did. It must have some way to for him "medicate" or seek comfort. There isn't really a name for that type of behavior.

how about 'promiscuous' or 'man-whore' lol

.

especially between 87 and 94. He even gave off a creepy vibe in the early 90s. when he was grooming all these 16 year olds just waiting for them to turn 18. kinda disgusting.

Were there others he was seeing that were that young? I know about Mayte but again, I didn't really follow his love life back then. I just loved the music. Look, I know he cared for Mayte. However, I never felt comfortable with his relationship with her only for the simple fact that she was far too young for him. Her mother was wrong in doing what she did. But I think Prince was wrong in courting/dating her too.

I have respect for Mayte and her grieving. I pray she has some really good people surrounding her to get through difficult time.
