I just looked at Adam Ant's autobiography on amazon. Denise is mentioned. In Feb 1983 they went to the Contemporary Music Awards together and were photographed leaving together. I agree. She was stunning and he was dripping sex. She was no saint though. Both had plenty of ammunition to hurt each other. He definitely made mention of the "others" especially in those angry-filled songs we suspect to be about her.

what I found out so far is that adam ant and vanity knew each other in 1981, and vanity's diary mentions him around the time she left MPLS. AdamAnt took her to the awards show which he was on, and there is video of him at the show but i can't find any pictures of him leaving with vanity like he mentions in the book.

i think the page i can't read yet says something about prince and a bit of jealousy.

Adam Ant in the book says that as he and Vanity were leaving Rick James calls out, something like. what are you doing with that white boy when i have something thick between my legs for you? lol classy rick classy

I see some things that could be references to Vanity.. Licking the tears,you broke my heart a dozen times without even knowing, dangling from your devil cigar trapped in the past (her smoking Cocaine to deal with childhood abuse),you want be Teresa but you act like a whore (her found Christianity, no fornication allowed but somehow he thinks she still wants to do or is doing it still). What does he mean "if you and I were in a quiet place"? I don't know, I would lean more that it was about her if it was written in earlier, 2014 seems late. . But then again, in the last radio interview, a year ago that she did, was annoyed that the interviewer asked her is she was still in touch with Prince. I thought it was an odd and downbeat song to sing at his very last concert in Atlanta. Esp if it was about Vanity. It was never a hit or fan favorite. I agree with you some things make me think of Vanity but others don't like I think she was able to move on, at least from him and her career into the evangelism thing.

Recently I looked up Prince's setlist for the concert he played in Oakland shortly after Vanity's funeral. It makes me think of the article Apples wrote about Vanity and how a group of them went to see the Prince concert in Oakland and she said that they hear Prince pain and his love for Denise as they listened to him sing. Check ou the setlist below and tell me if you don't think that alot of Prince's thoughts, mind and heart were with Vanity / Denise that evening.

100% agree with purplegirl00.

The dialysis machine, doctors, medicine, etc. are simply the tools God chose to work through but she could have easily died with or without those tools.

This is an insult to the doctors, science and people who helped her. If god was real and had any power there wouldn't be a need for "tools" as you say. THAT would be a miracle but it never is.

Appolonia was married to Greg Patschull the entire time she was involved with Purple Rain. None of her husbands were tall.

That doesn't mean its not real, because I do that and the reason is to keep a record that I can refer to later, as a way to refresh my memory if I need to. In this diary, they only showed photos of 10 pages from it, but there was already Susan from v6 and Susan from Motown.

I suspect the diary is real, and I read on the auction that it came out of a storage unit that had been abandoned in 1994, which was the year Vanity was so ill and said she threw away all her stuff.

Whether someone does or does not want to believe its true its up to them, I think it has details that would not be known by anyone else but Vanity.

Purplegirl I couldn't have put it better myself. In the month since Prince's transition, this thread has brought me alot of comfort and some closure and I want to thank everybody for participating along with me. I have mourned Vanity almost as much as Prince. And I learned alot from them both.

I think it's important because many of the things that have been said on this thread and documented in time lines and such, have never been put together quite like this. The only narrative that was out there is by people who had self serving agendas. The fans never had any other perspective. When you read the Ebony interview that Prince gave in Dec 2015 you could see how much the mis-information out there bothered him. I think it was the reason why he wanted to write the book in the first place so that his side could be told. The Sussanah, W/L, Susan Rogers, Karen Krattinger crowd has gotten a free pass. They were allowed to trash Vanity in all those books. They pretty much called Prince dumb, and took credit for the master pieces he had created. The people on this site had for years took everything that these people said as the gospel truth when Prince himself tried to dispute it, people didn't even believe him. Some of the things that have been pointed out such as lyrics to certain songs or the mirror reflection image in the WDC video, a lot of people never noticed. We are fans of his music we want to also know what made him tick. We read books in colleges and schools about the great artist and composers about what inspired them. We want to know what DaVinci was thinking when he painted the Mona Lisa. Was it a self portrait or was it for someone. What did the smile mean etc... That is exactly what we are doing here. I think the more people uncover the better. There is going to be a slew of books on Prince written by a lot of people who desperately want to take our money. We don't have an agenda here we just want to learn as much about him as possible because we loved him. We are also providing comfort for ourselves and for others who are reading our words. Peace
