BTW, It's remarkable that IDWS is included on the cd, since it was removed from commercial pressings of the original LP on demand of Prince. So, buy the cd while you can, it might also become a collectors item 😃

Never heard that track until today. (I don't want to stop)

It really doesn't sound like a Prince joint to my ears.

Don't agree.. replace the real horns by synths & imagine P's vocals >> it would perfectly fit his debut album!

The song was written by Prince, but the version on Ren's album was produced by Chuck Jackson. That may explain why it doesn't sound like a Prince song.I'd love to hear Prince's own demo recording of this song.

hmmm come to think of it...that may be the reason why Prince demanded that the song be removed from Ren's again.Perhaps he didn't like what Ren's producer did to the song.

Reportedly that's the exact reason: he didn't like it. IDK when that info comes from though but IIRC it was what Uptown/Nilsen wrote about it.

-// Actually, Ren Woods said Prince's mgmt wanted her to sign with them but she could not because she mgmt already so his mgmt made him pull the song.

Yeah, it's the horns--I also think it might help to think of it up against the more gimmicky "Soft and Wet" demo type of recording. Imagine those with horns, and you're getting pretty close to I Don't Wanna Stop. Good (I guess) that it's back out there as an official release. But only for completists who need the full picture of Prince's work, because it isn't great.

I only recently found out much about Ren Woods other than this track. I had no idea who she was, and was surprised to find out how often I'd seen her in stuff. I'd much prefer to hear Aquarius than this, to be honest. And maybe (just maybe) watch a bit of Xanadu (yes, I know she was in Roots--but I haven't seen that since I was 7 years old and it first aired).

She appears in the 1976 comedy Car Wash, which is one of my all-time favorite movies
