Prince is featured in new documentary movie "Mavis!" I just found a trailer for a new documentary movie about Mavis Staples:
The theatratical release date was 27/12/2015 in the USA. Has anybody seen it yet?

Thanks for posting this - I wasn't aware of it before, although I see it's been doing the festival circuit for a while now.
It was released in the UK yesterday (19th Feb) but seems to mainly be in/around London.
Hoping it will make its way to BBC4 at some point. It seems like the perfect fit.

Just watched this on Sky Arts. Very enjoyable; I've always had a soft spot for Mavis Staples, I unconditionally love her now. The Prince bit is old footage of the recording of God is Alive. I wish he had got of his bloody pedestal and actually talked to the film makers, as she talks so fondly of him. its between 1/2 and 3/4 in the documentary... its about 5 minutes.. they show the "God Is Alive" footage and parts of her performance from "The Sacrifice Of Victor".. she speaks highly of him, but was very disapointed that "The Voice" went virtually unheard. | |
