I am so sad. She was such a huge part of my teenage years and remained so special to me all througout my life. I am saddened by the loss of her but glad she is no longer suffering or in pain.

What an obnoxious and untrue statement. Many people who recovered from crack and other addictions have gone on to live healthy and happy lives.

I don't think it's an issue of "associate artist" because Judith Hill's album release is up there. So......?

Prince dedicated his Melbourne show to Vanity, was visibly upset, and told many stories and mentioned that he was in love with her, apparently.

The "featuring" system is a little buggy. Sometimes it takes a while for the actual item to show up on the front page.

Was huge Vanity fan in the 80's and like most guys had big crush on her, loved her music with Vanity 6 & solo, enjoyed her movies too. For the last 20+ years of her life she dedicated her life to God, completely renounced her former life as Vanity. When she was very close to death in the early 90's, she prayed and when she was saved (not just physically but spiritually also), completely gave up her showbiz career. That was a powerful testimony and I'm sure she reached many people with it. Yes we all remember her as Vanity but I hope people won't forget what she devoted her time and the rest of her life to.

Her book 'Blame It On Vanity' was privately published, I hope that possibly a major book publisher can republish it now beause it is well worth reading, her testimony of how she changed her life and left showbiz behind is a powerful one that many incl. celebrities today could learn from, also obviously a lot of interest to Prince fans.

^ So glad Prince has spoken about her and paid tribute, he was obviously shaken by the news and loved her. I've no idea when they last talked or if they kept in touch sometimes, or if they met again after they broke up but I hope they did.

Yeah, thanks for telling us this cuz I was hoping our guy would say something. I'm glad he did this also.....perhaps also the fam will need help with funeral expenses? She had a "gofundme" to help pay for medical expenses so you can imagine her family will be up against the wall while they are in mourning.

Her second solo album was da bomb! It's worth a listen, really.

And she was the loveliest woman I've ever seen. There's this TV interview in the 80's where she seems so totally high and vulnerable, u just want to hold her in your arms.

It's a beautiful thing Prince, Sheila, Jill and Morris paid her homage.

Really sad, hope she found the inner harmony we all seek in this life...

And one good-looking girl!
