Do you think Joshua Welton will go onto develop acts or is he a one-trick pony?

Could you see him working with anybody else?

Paul Simon defined it:

.

"One Trick Pony"

He's a one trick pony
One trick is all that horse can do
he does one trick only
It's the principal source of his revenue
And when he steps into the spotlight
You can feel the heat of his heart
Come rising through

See how he dances
See how he loops from side to side
See how he prances
The way his hooves just seem to glide
He's just a one trick pony (that's all he is)
But he turns that trick with pride

He makes it look so easy
He looks so clean
He moves like God's
Immaculate machine
He makes me think about
All of these extra movements I make
And all of this herky-jerky motion
And the bag of tricks it takes
To get me through my working day
One-trick pony

He's a one trick pony
He either fails or he succeeds
He gives his testimony
Then he relaxes in the weeds
He's got one trick to last a lifetime
But that's all a pony needs
(that's all he needs)
He looks so easy
He looks so clean
He moves like God's
Immaculate machine
He makes me think about
All of these extra movements I make
And all of this herky-jerky motion
And the bag of tricks it takes
To get me through my working day

One-trick pony, one trick pony
One-trick pony, one trick pony
One-trick pony (take me for a ride)
One trick pony

I guess that when it comes to producing radio-friendly stuff that would attract a teenage audience he is not without assets and that because of that, he may have a future as a producer.

But I don't really know much about that modern radio-friendly stuff for teens so IDK.

Now I don't think if David Bowie had lived Josh Welton would have produced him anytime soon lol

Or maybe he's gonna reveal himself as a more imaginative composer/producer that he has so far and in some time u'll read me rave about his stuff, who knows...

I don't dislike what he did on AOA and Phase One, there's even some stuff I really like a lot. But I guess that's also because Prince was in the mix, because the 2 solo Josh songs I heard, I can't make anything out of it. But I'm sure some kids would find them attractive.

I like AOA but I think Prince let Welton take too much control with Phase One when he should have reined him in... lol

Josh is too young and talented to be done. I think he's going to be better in the future than he is now.

Hopefully he's done working for Prince though, because they are not a 'ying and yang' type of team. Josh is too young to know what Prince's sound needs. Prince's head is too far up his azz to get anything worthwhile out of Josh. I can't stand AOA because it sounds like a couple of dudes sitting around telling themselves how fuggin smart they are while producing it. Everything is more complicated on that album that it needed to be and you have to really like Prince not to be annoyed by it. 'Phase I' sounds like Prince left Josh alone with some demos, took the results, and then turned the knobs up on everything. Phase II sounds like an old pimp trying to prove he's still got it, and again everything is too damn slick for it's own good, but at least the Joshua Effect is down to just that insulting 'Extraloveable' remix.

The Phase II comment was irrelevant, since it seems Josh had nothing to do with it. Extraloveable was rerecorded (and released!) more than a year before Prince even met Josh or Hannah and I'm pretty sure you are aware of this. Please stop the propaganda and stick to the facts. Your opinion on Phase Two is something you are welcome to share. Spreading lies isn't.

The appropriate reply would have been 'I stand corrected'.

Is there any point in discussing with u at all? Have u read my posts for all those years? Have I ever been known to make up shit? Are you here to discuss Prince's music or to follow a personal agenda? Shame on u really sad

Wow. Dude don't implode. The Extraloveable version on P2 is not the exact version I think Josh worked on, but do I know for sure? No. With that said I believe the version that premiered on Toronto radio began with Josh. I think the same for Let's Go Crazy Reloded, and a few more remixes from a couple of years ago and I've always said it. Even before I knew Josh produced music. I thought someone other than Prince camed up with those sounds and I pinned it on Josh because he was the only dude holding a MacBook. I still think it's true.

The new recording of Extraloveable that's featured in a very slightly altered version on Phase Two (i.e. minus rap and plus horns, everything else being exactly the same) was released on 11/12/2011.

Hannah Ford was originally contacted by Prince and first met him in Summer 2012. (and yeah, I stand corrected by myself, after checking the facts it wasn't more than a year)

Josh Welton met Prince at a later date through his wife.

While you're at it, you may as well claim John Blackwell plays the drums on Pop Life and Donna Grantis plays the guitar solo on Little Red Corvette.

Why not after all? Nobody was there, nobody knows, do we?

As I said on the other thread I'm through your games and manipulations. Do your homework: whatever info I have access to is accessible to you or anyone else as well. Have a nice weekend.

databank is correct - "Extraloveable Reloaded" was recorded before Prince even knew Josh.
