Horn arranger for Prince has new song out...

Phillip Lassiter - a close personal friend of mine and the person who did the horn arrangements for Big City, Mutiny on The Aresnio Hall show, etc has a new single that has dropped today - vocals and performance are by his wife Josephine. It's a dance/r&b/pop tune - you can check it out here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNgjC5XiBYo&feature=youtu.be

Josephine's website is: http://josephineofficial.com/

Phil is a friend to the Org - any help or support for his music is very appreciated!

You can check out Phil's website at http://philiplassiter.com/

where you will see some details on the work he has done for Prince and you can download songs from his albums Dreamzz and Philthy - they are very funky and have the horn/funk sound we love.

Thanks everyone!

speaking of falling out ..What happened to Phil

He is taking some time to try to develop his own career from an artistic standpoint and work with his new wife on hers. However hs is still in touch with Prince and is oncall for possible touring and arrangement work in the future. Trying to have your own career and work with Prince can be tough just based on scheduling, etc - but it is always exciting and of course a great opportunity to work with someone like Prince.

I don't want to say much more for him - this just was the gist I got from getting together with him over the holidays a few times.

BTW - look for Phil to be interviewed on an upcoming Prince podcast (something I helped arrange... Stay tuned!

Yea - wish more people could hear them - trying to get the word out for sure - for those of us who love horns and funk his music is definitely a lot of fun. I have known him since our days together in a dance band in Dallas playing in mostly small clubs - always a talented cat on trumpet and keyboards - his experience playing keys is what allows him to add layers to the sound that are not typical for horn arrangers - it is also what Prince liked when he heard the music during auditions as I am told.

I think he recruited 1 or 2 (at least 1 I know) - the rest came from various sources. I'll get more details when I can and let you know.

I really love this track, it's really smart and nicely produced, accessible but nowhere near your usual radio-friendly trash. Thx for sharing biggrin
