Have loved the Time since the beginning and Condensate saddens me a great deal because it was pretty weak. Too much talent for that to be the product. I was expecting, at the very least, live, in-studio, full band recordings and the overuse of drum machines was just baffling, considering the talent of Morris Day and Jellybean Johnson. Shit, even Jesse Johnson was disappointed that Morris didn't play drums.

The album was released in 2011.Modern-day albums aren't created that way anymore.Hell, even Prince uses alot of the new technology on his own recent albums.

I would have liked to have heard some more 80s old school The Time songs on the album personally as I just love that sound. But I have to say they did a pretty fine job translating their original sound to the 21st century. I've learnt to appreciate the album for what it is, eventhough it didn't really meet my hopes/expectations. I give it a solid 8/10.

RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

About half of the album is incredible. Toast To the Party Girl is one of the best songs out of the Minneapolis scene in over a decade. It is a great call back to earlier work by The Time and is more fun than anything Prince has released in a long time. Other tracks on the album: If I Was Yo Man, Sick and Go Home To Yo Man are amazing. Trendin' is ok and a few (Strawberry Lake and Cadillac) aren't very good.

Overall it is a great addition to The Time's catalog. I'd also add Fishnet to that list as well since it has many members of The Time on it.

The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. (www.amazon.com/gp/product/1538114623/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i0) or www.facebook.com/groups/1...104195943/

Just wish I could have seen the LA concert. They were supposed to come to Oakland... sigh

Probably even more so. As far as Jesse goes he's my dude as an artist but all he does

is speak out of his ass for attention and turn around and play victim.

I had tickets to the press conference but I had to work. Never seen the full band in concert. They played in Vegas for quite a while (pre-Condensate) and missed that too. Odds are, that is it for the band which sucks.
