"Some Kind Of Lover" by Apollonia 6 I think that the best songs on the Apollonia 6 album are the ones featuring Brenda on lead vocals."Some Kind Of Lover" is one of my favorites. It's a sexy, sultry midtempo jam.Brenda sounds a little bit like Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders! Who else loves this song?

Brenda was the powerhouse of this group. She brought alot of attitude and power to those songs.

The album should be reissued on cd, including the extended version of Sex Shooter! Let's start a lobby at a reissue label like "Funkytowngrooves".... It's the only P-related album I don't have on original cd, together with Maserati...

Yeah, real talk, Brenda held down the Apollonia 6 album, for sure. They shoulda called it Brenda 6. I definitely wonder why Jill Jones didn't replace Vanity when she left, as opposed to Patricia Kotero. Further, Jill would've also been a great singer for this group. Imagine her and Brenda; the whole concept may have lasted longer with 2 strong vocalists.

Yep. Brenda really showed-out on that album. "A Million Miles" is my favorite cut. Great song to play when you are working out. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

MAN! I could never put a finger on who she reminded me of on this track, but that is exactly right!

Although I tracked down an original Japanese CD, I agree it would be a popular reissue, especially by adding the Dance Remix onto the end. Hell, I'll take any instrumental too if they're kicking around.

I,too, have always wondered why Prince didn't put Jill into this group. It would have made perfect sense.Look at Jill in the "1999" video....she's sporting lingerie and looking sexy as hell. And her strong vocals could have really made the group sound so much better.Hell,Prince used her on the '1999' tour to sing "backup" vocals for Vanity 6,behind a curtain And she contributes heavily to the Apollonia 6 album. He should have just put her into the group! It could have been four members.

I like the ending of the song, when Brenda and her lover go another round, which clearly leaves her satisfied
faster..faster...faster....oh faster....faster.....aaaahhhhhhhh!!!

I think both groups would have been even better with JJ. Maybe it was an idea, she is heard on "Vibrator" too.

The excellent "Blue Limousine" was released as the second single from the album, but it didn't get any promotion at all.I never heard it on the radio, there was no video.I don't know what happened my guess is that Warners and Prince lost interest in the project when the first single ("Sex Shooter") only became a minor hit.

Some kind of lover and a million miles both should be performed by Prince live

There is a video for Blue Limousine. It just hasn't been released.

yeah,I've seen it....it's part of that unreleased video album project that the girls were working on in early 1985.I really don't understand why Warners/Prince decided to abandon this project so quickly.

I am guessing they were already spending money on the next Revolution and Sheila E albums.

Funny, sad, and astounding that the Apollonia 6 album is actually better than HItnRun Save America - Stop Illegal Immigration. God bless America. PEACE

perhaps, but it's a shame that a great song like "Blue Limousine" wasn't given the proper promotion and attention it deserved. That song had 'Top 10 hit' written all over it.
In a late-80s interview,Apollonia said that, when she told Prince (later in 1985) that she was leaving the Prince camp,he bitterly told her "You'll never make it without me" Makes me wonder if he had other plans for the group.

Yeah, that doesn't have the same ring as " Phew! I thought U'd never leave". [Edited 9/15/15 8:59am]

Dunno. Good song but not my favorite on the album. Always thought that the song had a Rick James-feel to it. Back in the '80s, we used to call that "biting".

a Rick James feel to it? | |

Yeah, it kinda reminds me of a chill funk "Bustin' Out". With Chrissie Hynde on vocals.

One of the FUNKIEST cuts since "If A Girl Answers Don't Hang Up"...Brenda shows out vocally and actually compliments the funky track........Brenda is indeed the GLUE that held both Vanity 6 & Apollonia 6 together vocally IMHO......"Some Kinf Of Lover" Rocks & Funks you to the CORE....Wish it had a funky extended remix I'm sure would have been NICE!!!! Ido hope this gets the reissue treatment SOON....I'd love to have this album on CD!!!!** IS ANYONE LISTENING!??
