What Time Is It? The Time Condensate Ice Cream Castles Pandemonium
I actually wasn't too crazy about Ice Cream Castles. It seemed like it was thrown together very quickly and the production throughout is messy and uneven.Pandemonium has some good tracks, but it's a mess of an album.

Thats funny- cause Prince cant make a good Prince album anymore - how would he make the Time album good. Original 7 was a solid record even if I could have lost a few tracks.

I was gonna say something similiar Prince's own recent albums aren't even that great. He produced some amazing Time albums in the past, but that doesn't necessarily mean that he could do it now.Plus,he's a JW now. That would prevent him from writing the fun, wild songs that The Time are known for.

It doesn't matter that Condensate is better than all of Prince's music. All this drama and Prince bashing around the name and the O7 had the best opportunity to tour and promote this amazing cd yet they crashed and burned and disintegrated right before our eyes, while Prince didn't bat one eyelash or even said a word. Symbolically speaking. Prince won.

Everyone keeps saying they needed to tour. That's not really important to me Don't get me wrong,I love going to concerts, but a concert lasts two hours and then you go home.A CD lasts forever. My point is....we got an amazing album from them...a fantastic CD that we can enjoy for the rest of our lives.I don't need them to promote something that I already have and enjoy.Let's just be happy with that
just my two cents | |

They didn't even tour at the height of their popularity (1984,Ice Cream Castles)

Creative differences... Name change... Independent release... The Death of CD... Those are the only factors I could find. Prince was a dick about some stuff, but then again what else would you expect from that guy? There are some more minor issues, but they are tacky, so there is no point in dredging them up. Great album tho.

yeah, great album indeed all of the other drama doesn't mean a thing to me.They delivered a great album, that's all I care about.

People saying that the O7 didn't promote, they performed on Jay Leno and the Soul Train Awards. The group has also did several print and TV interviews and also appeared at a Grammy function where they showed their documentary and answered questions for the audience. Also touring wouldn't have helped. It's not like The Time is like U2 or Michael Jackson or even Sade. They're a funk group and funk for the most part wasn't even that much of a seller during its heyday in the 1970s and early 1980s. Especially compared to rock groups such as Journey & Led Zeppelin or even country acts like Kenny Rogers. Morris Day & The Time had been touring for years on oldies concerts with other acts. There wasn't a big demand for them like Sade, who was successful with Soldier Of Love, which was on a major label. The Time are mostly known for 3 songs on the crossover side and only one of them hit Top 10 pop (Jerk Out). The rest was mainly popular on R&B radio, a smaller market back then. That why some R&B acts made music that was more likely to crossover like Lionel Richie and Kool & The Gang. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I never expected these guys to sell millions. the touring THEY THEMPSELVES talked about I figured would be booked at very small venues for the fans. So yall could make every excuse in the book for them but the fact is that they broke up very soon after the release which was TOTALLY unexpected from the way they portrayed themselves in the documentary and in print interviews. Why is MOrris Day touring with the fake time? Thats all I'm saying. The band as a unit last for one moment and like I said, the beauty of it is that the man yall made out to be Satan never said one word yet walked away with the last word.

Great album tho. You would take any chance to call Prince dick but they got past the name change with a new band name and still yet they couldnt keep it together and Prince had nothing to do with it, unless there is something behind the scenes that I dont know about and I am open learning more if anyone has any facts.

REAL SIMPLE: 1)Jam & Lewis did NOT wanna tour!!!! and 2)Morris did NOT wanna give up "Part-Time", cuz THAT'S His money-maker!!!! I AM glad I got 2 see OG 7ven in MPLS on 11/5/2011!!! So, between reasons #1 & #2, Jesse #3 LEFT and has toured all around the World w/D'Angelo!!!! Silver lining tho': Jam & Lewis have another Janet project coming out!!! And "Part-Time is STILL tearin' sh*t up!!! I can only imagine if Alan Leeds was managing the OG 7ven(He manages D'Angelo)..........

I'm not saying Prince directly caused the friction in the band.

Very good point. There are many old school funk bands who make 'new' albums these days, and how many copies are they selling? Con Funk Shun just put out a new CD a few months ago and it didn't sell alot of copies.I don't know why anyone believes that the Original7 would have sold millions if only they would have toured Hell,we live in an era where even hot artists with hit songs on the radio don't always sell alot of records.

Wasn't the Morris Day & The Time lineup playing on the live songs on Morris album It's About Time You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. Are you fucking kidding me? No one can make a comment about Morris Day or
a new time album without throwing some Prince shit up in it? Let Morris and the Time be the Time and let Prince be Prince. Its usually the Prince die hards starting up shit. I'm a Prince fan too but damn the homerism is sickening. [Edited 10/6/15 15:27pm] Don't laugh at my funk

Yeah - and its a horrible release. The editing is laughable. The track order is awful. It isnt even a true live album as much as it is just a bunch of disjointed live tracks with the curse word bleeped out and thrown together in the wrong order. Morris should be more ashamed of this than Guaranteed. Save America - Stop Illegal Immigration. God bless America. PEACE

Nothing wrong with Guaranteed. I like it. It's one of my favorite albums. Still play it occasionally today. IMO only 3121 stands up to it. I only liked maybe 3 to 4 songs on AOA. I'm glad I listened to that Hit and Run mess before purchasing. Not feeling it. Musicology was cool and and some songs off of Lotusflower. I passed on Planet Earth too. Don't laugh at my funk
