What is remarkable about Judith Hill?

You would think that someone who MJ and Prince had an interest in would have something extraordinary. I just don't here it. I see it - these days young female singers are judged more on looks that skill.

I agree. There's a reason she's a backup singer and why she did well in that capacity. It takes alot more than that to carry a whole album.

You need a UNIQUE personality. a UNIQUE vision. You need a strong passion and a message and a point of view... that makes a good singer worth listening to. Or you need a voice like christina aguilera - whitney - celine dion mariah etc where your instrument is so impeccable or outstanding or otherworldly that the singing is THE thing.

good doesnt cut it as a solo artist. Judith can sing....but beyond that she's not compelling...but in relation to many other Prince proteges, the album is probably the best.

Judith Hill has a unique voice; soulful, bluesy, funky...and she can SANG...with a band doing real music. Mariah and Whitney(RIP) lost their voices and does aguilera still even make records and i haven't heard anything new from Dion. Judith Hill got that new ish, for real.

I think it is. Not everybody can sing like Miss Hill. I know I can't! biggrin The Tempations and The Four Tops were just singers and nothing more, yet they made some great music. Motown was full of acts who didn't have a unique voice or a uniquepersonality. They needed others to write and produce their music. So what? You cannot expect everybody to be a genius.

//// She has a really good voice in a time when you do not have many good singers. It is also one of P's best productions in a long time.

I really enjoy her voice & her album, I think it's pretty versatile but cohesive at the same time.
