Alexander O'Neal, The Basement Jaxx and a Time To Rectify! . How do you like the new single from Alex? . I say, this somehow outdated house beat from the Basement Jaxx leaves me disappointed but Alex's voice still cuts like knife. Amazing! . I give it 3 stars out of 5. . Next one! .

It's not really "outdated", more like totally trendy For the last 2 years paying homage to early 90's house is the absolute hype, which is logic (same way synthpop came back with a bang in the 2000's). Ther's a lot of revival stuff like that around, and somehow it sound better than it did 20 years ago (at least to me). Alex is the second Mpls Sound related act to turn to Bristish producers (after Jody Watley and 4hero), which is pretty rare and pretty cool. I believe near-complete ignorance of what has been happening on the European electronic music scene has been R&B's (and Prince's) biggest handicap for the last 20 years. A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

Ok, this retro house thing may be "totally trendy" but not in my ears. I like my beats crisp, phat & funky. TIME TO RECTIFY, though, is no bad effort at all. I am certainly in for some more Alex & Basement Jaxx! What you say about Prince and his near-complete ignorance of what has been happening on the European electronic music scene is right. I sign that.
