Did any Prince chick/protege have a shorter shelf life than Bria Valente? Tamar never got an official album release but at least she got some live dates and TV appearances. Bria got a whole disc in a Prince album and then disappeared. I dont think that album was bad at all. I am sure Prince didnt have any long term plans for her but she set a record with how fast she was the hell out of there. [Edited 3/8/15 16:18pm]

You'd probably have to ask thunderfunk or langebleu or bart. Maybe one of them keeps track of such things. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

Its actually surprising how many decent songs he gave her that no one will ever hear. I would have loved to hear him do Elixr with a real established artist instead. Change it one more time..

I bought the 3CD set the week it was released and still have not played the Bria Valente disc. I'll get around to it one day.

Bria Valente may have had a short musical time with Prince, but it's obvious she had even bigger plans and goals than singing with P. The woman in my opinion has a beautiful voice, photogentic and just plan downright gorgeous. All the best gurl with your marriage...he's foine.

Treat yourself - it is good adult music...unlike almost everything else Prince does with young beautiful women.

POssibly the finest Prince babe of all time...of course, a good piture of Vanity or Susan Moonsie from 30 years ago has to be considered when talkig about the finest Prince babes...

Chick couldn't sing all that great, but the album itself wasn't bad at all...though I can't say that I listen to it a whole lot....only when I'm getting ready to do house chores and scanning through my cd collection only to find this one is probably the only time I play it. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Good Question. I mean it was a good question and also the group "Good Question"

She disappointed me, she didn't even try (outside of doing an album) and it takes more to be considered a protege. She should have sang back up on the live shows, she should have gotten her feet wet and led a few songs with Prince

but, but, but.... there's a duet with prince on the album ("elixir") and there's all sorts of he should have kept for himself ("all this love" - check the live Montreux version, wow) bad one either imo.

All This Love is great too - I like Prince's version at Montreux. Something U Already Know would be uh-mazing with George Michael singing - it's obviously written from a male p.o.v./singer. Elixir is a beautifully intricate duet - too bad Bria is not up to its level. I imagine Diana Krall might be good on it.

In her defense,though....she probably didn't get any real guidance from Prince.
Prince finds beautiful women and he gets them excited, promising them he'll produce an album for them and make them a star. Then the album comes out,it flops,he gets bored and moves on to the next, young, pretty "artist" It's a continuous cycle and it goes on and on.Judith Hill is the latest one who's got his attention, but she shouldn't get too comfortable, either.Next year, she will be replaced too, lol.

Bria's disc wasn't bad, but the one TV appearance I saw, she was seated on a stool and didn't move.
