I'm interviewing Dez Dickerson in the next week.

Does anybody have any questions you'd like for me to ask Dez?

Could Dez Dickerson explain how he and Prince came up with ideas for "comping" during certain songs like "Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad"?

How did Dez and Prince avoid colliding into each other musically when playing together? Meaning knowing when to step back during a guitar groove

Coming from a rock n roll background, were you gutted when you were learning mostly r&b tunes?

Congratulations, therighteous1 on interviewing Dez Dickerson. Dez is one of the principal members of Prince's live sound and early success. Can't wait to check it out.

He said that he had found a longer master of "Modernaire" after his limited edition CD box set was released. Will he find a way to distribute that mix?

Will Dez offer an eBook/digital version of his 'My Time With Prince' book?

On Prince's guitars (Strats) why has he always not used the in between neck and middle pickup? (It might seem like a really trivial question but I always wondered.) He seems to use to neck pickup or on the guitars with humbuckers the neck and bridge pickup.

Ask him what it was like being a black rocker with white bandmates in his early days with Romeo and Revolver. Ask him if he ever had to put up with garbage racial attitudes back in those days.

Tell him I think he was pretty gutsy following his heart to play rock back then, I'm sure it wasn't always easy.

Which of the songs did he leak?

And on a more serious note: how serious were the lyrics to Bambi?

What was his opinion of Prince's guitar playing when he first joined the band?

Did they share the same influences, guitar-wise?

Did he feel that Prince stood out on any particular instrument more than others?

How has his guitar setup (amps and effects pedals) changed over the years?

Has his approach (and Prince's for that matter) to guitar playing changed over the years?

Will his boxed set ever be made available for purchase again?

a few questions come to mind:

After you left, do you think that Prince took over the 'lead guitar' role in the band? Wendy didn't play as many lead parts and it seemed that Prince enjoyed being up front for the solos.

and

As a guitarist, was it frustrating that the song Modernaire is really a keyboard based track instead of a guitar heavy track? Why do you think Prince gave you a song like that instead of something that would show you off?

How long before filming started did he give you the song Modernaire (and Promise To Be True)? (filming started in November 1983). Had it been sitting around for a long time or was it only a few weeks before hand?

Thanx for asking for suggestions. Where is this being published?

I interviewed Dez years ago and he was a great interview and very open guy. Good luck and have fun.

How come we never saw a solo album back in 1984?

Also, do you know if "Modernaire" will be included on the Purple Rain remaster?

The interview is up. Don't fear if I wasn't able to include your question; I have it for the Live Q+A Friday night at the PR screening. If anybody from the org is in the Nashville area this weekend, come on down. It should be fun.

Thanks for including my question, therighteous1. This was one of the best, most focused interview pieces I've seen on anyone in the Purple Camp. Great job!
