I think I figured out why The Time say's we don't like new wave. I was watching a old Andre Cymone interview from 82 and he was talking about his new album living in the new wave. I think that was a dig on Andre by Prince and The Time or probably just Prince since he was running the show

I always thought it was meant to create some kind of (fun) rivalry with Prince,who was actually doing New Wave-styled songs back then ("Delirious","Let's Pretend We're Married",etc).

The song "OneDayImGonnaBeSomebody" is New Wave too,and then at the end,the guys claim "We don't like New Wave!" and start laughing I think this was Prince's way of having them poke fun at him? lol,who knows?

I think it was P's way of dissin' AC!!!!!
