When did you stop keeping track of bandmembers' names? 3rdEyeGirl...maybe because there are only 3 of them (4 if you include Josh) but I find them easy to remember and relate to. The ever-revolving door of the NPG though, I just can't keep track of! I know of Shelby because of the numerous negative posts about her, but all of the others are virtual strangers to me. Am I the only one losing track? I'm in this journey for Prince, so it's not really a big deal, but in a way I enjoy the music a bit more when I feel connected to the whole band. (Again, understanding that it's always mostly Prince on record).

After Diamonds & Pearls I really lost track, even though I never really followed the band then. So I should say Graffiti Bridge,
I look at who is in the bands in the last 10 years but can't say I'm actually following who is in the band

Up until 2004 I could tell u exactly who was in the band. After with the rotating bands it became more blurry for me. I always know more or less who're there, but there's a reasonable margin of doubt ^^ A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

Actually when/if I find the time 2 do it I'd like to do a graphic showing the evolution of P's bands since 1978, but I ain't gonna do it 2day or 2morrow ^^ A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

Actually after the Revolution/SOTT band the bands started to be more blurry to me the NPG was more of a hire/fire brand band vs the 1978-1986 band who Prince never changed the bands, be an individual here and there needing to leave and then Prince replacing

Prince-Sonny-Michael (and Morris) were the tightest band he ever had. I've dated outside of my race and I discovered that Good Pussy is Good Pussy and Good Booty is Good Booty regardless of ethnicity...I don't have a Fetish for only Big White Tits, Big White Butts or Phat White Pussy.(chancellor) wise man !

I've never lost track. But there's actually no current solid version of the NPG, unless you consider 3EG + Shelby, Liv, Elisa and Cassy O' Neal to be the NPG. |

I lost track, or stopped paying attention, to band members after the Emancipation line up. TRUE BLUE

I would say the same goes for 1990-1995. I know you have a thing for that era, but Prince was pumping out a ton of material during that time to rival the 80's output. Tony M was around longer than Wendy! TRUE BLUE

Emancipation era. You started seeing people onstage that had serious flaws in what they brought to the sound and image of the band. Some may disagree, but I don't think Prince even likes a lot of his bands since The Revolution. 3EG is the first band he's had where it seemed like he was crafting a brand. The music is all over the place, but the image seems consistent. I still don't know their names though.

It's not about who I like or not, I'm just saying it wasn't until after 1986/88 that how Prince dealt with the band changed. Nothing to do with Wendy. But the fact that Tony M was around longer that Wendy is sad. Tony M vs Wendy M... But he never wrote a song dedicated to Tony after he was gone, and from 2005-2007 he was performing (and recording) with Wendy M again . Prince might have pumped out a ton of material (to rival) in Number, but I doubt it quality. But we should do a comparison thread of material rel/unrel . But again my comment wasn't about preference of a band over the other, but how Prince dealt with them (business wise) as a band. He never had a time period placed on when they would start and stop prior to 1988/89/90

NOW she's a household name. THEN, she was really nothing but an unknown white girl from God-knows-where. I doubt most people even know her real name. . Tony M. was already one of Prince's bandmates and was on Diamonds & Pearls which was a huge album.

I Hate U(Carmen Electra), vs In This Bed I Scream(Wendy/Susannah Melvoin, Lisa Coleman)? . I'm talking about a song of a real relationship, and Prince didn't continue to keep in touch with Tony M and have him back doing music with him ... God I hope that never happens

I honestly think when the Revolution broke up.... I mean, I knew some of them, but if someone said "Name Prince's band members...Go", I would have failed.
