I was wondering who was Sheila E. dating during the 80's? Except from her alleged flirt or relationship with Prince I don't remember any other significant name. Info please! I know she's a lady, and a lady never tells but the press diggs something sooner or later. I guess she managed to keep it private. She's one mysterious lady. Maybe she was just too busy for dating She was working non- stop from '84-'88.

I remember in the mid-80s (around '86 or so),there was a rumor that she was dating actor Stoney Jackson.And of course,in 1988,she was engaged to Prince.Never heard of any others.

I remember in 1986,there was a brief interview in some magazine where Sheila was discussing this very topic: her love life.She revealed that she was getting married soon,but wouldn't say who her husband-to-be was ("You'll know soon enough",she said) This was in 1986,two years before her engagement to Prince.He was involved with Susannah at this time.

In her Unsung episode,she said that she is still open to the idea of marriage,but hasn't found the right guy yet.

Sheila E had some kind of engagement 2 Prince mid late 1980s (even though everyone knew he was engaged to Susannah and she lived with him) I think it was just a part of Prince's mind games and getting some kind of 'the Music + Reality' thru Sheila E. The Belle of St Mark, Sister Fate, OneDayI'mGonnaMakeUMine etc all about Prince. I even think her new song Mona Lisa is about Prince

Do you mean his mind games with the public,and Shiela E played along? I can see that to be possible, considering her Sister Fate song and video.Otherwise, I do not believe that their friendship would have lasted that long.

But I do believe they were in a relationship, and she was very loyal to Prince. His relationship/friendship with Sheila has been up and down as well. I think that last break on the Welcome2 shows and her not responding to his 'summons' in 'Detroit?' to join the band(around the time Andy Allo was in) Then he performed Old Friends 4 Sale, I bet Mona Lisa is her song about Prince

Sheila E is one of those who I would love to hear some background on the recording/creating etc of the music from Glamorous Life to her aborted 4th album. I suspect Lisa Coleman knows more about it though

I don't think they ever had much more than a fling. Or were probably too much a like and maybe Prince thinks of her more like a sister. She was more like a female version of Prince in the mid 80's.

Yeah, she said it back then and in an interview a few years ago I believe where she talked about the sexual abuse, she said it. I believer her father commented about it as well.

I think the 'engagement' happened after Susannah left.
Prince later continued to stay in touch with Susannah as well, that's when he really got back into connection with Wendy Lisa Sheila and Susannah a little around/after the Emancipation period.

I remember in the mid-90s,Sheila did an Intenet chat/interview where she confirmed that she was engaged to Prince in 1988.She said that they never married because "he had too many other women around".It's obvious that,back in the 80s,Prince was never serious about settling down with any woman He played mind games with them and his "engagement" to Sheila probably didn't mean much to him...lol...I recall Sheila's father (in some interview) talking about how Prince almost became his son-in-law.He seemed intrigued by the idea,lol.
