I love Jesse, but... didn't he say when he first left that it was to do with there not being enough concrete plans ahead as far as the next single, the tour, etc? So he split to the do the D'Angelo tour?
Maybe I'm wrong, but at the time I don't recall him saying that he wasn't happy with the material. |

I thought he said it was because there were no gigs lined up and he was spending his own money to travel with the group and for clothes. And what's the difference between Lifestyle and Cool? Both are bragging about having fancy things. As far as doing songs that has something to do with a performers' actual life, did Johnny Cash really shoot a man to watch him die, did Michael Jackson go up to gangbangers and tell them to stop what they're doing, did Big Bank Hank have more clothes than Muhammad Ali, and is John Lennon a walrus? You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

That's what I'm saying. The reasons seem different. I don't believe he split because he didn't like what happened with some of the songs. That's part and parcel of being in a band. |

It's like what does Pandemonium have to do with why he left the Original 7ven? He mentioned his songs Blondie & Skillet being changed to a message he doesn't agree with, but there's Donald Trump and Jerk Out on the same album which are not much different. I'm not really sure why he would have a problem with Skillet. It's about music, not picking up women, and there's a skillet in the movie. Maybe Jesse would have been happy if all of the O7 songs were like It's Your World, more of a message thing. But The Time are not U2, people don't listen to them for that. They're a party group. I guess the difference, in Jesse's mind, is that he wrote Blondie and Skillet. He didn't write Jerk Out or Donald Trump (Black Version) so he doesn't have any real feelings about those songs. |

Then as long as he had nothing to do with the writing, then he's ok with performing such songs? So it's like John Lennon saying that Paul McCartney wrote "granny music" and songs about random people, but yet John played on them. The rooster is one of the Chinese birth symbols, which are animals. In the music section, it's been posted that Morris is singing on the upcoming Jam & Lewis album, so I guess there's no problem there. I saw this foolishness on FB last night. Some cat went in on him too saying the first time he claimed it was his investment and no shows but now it's the lyrics. Dude said was he high the first time or what. I'm a Jesse fan but he is one weird flip flopping dude. Don't laugh at my funk

I wish they would just replace Jesse and keep going on. I LOVED the O7 album and I like Blondie and Skillet. To me thats The Time. I really dont want to hear the Time singing serious songs which I guess is what Jesse wants. He is just the guitar player. The songs are to fit Morris and I think they fit perfectly. Sounds like Jesse is just jealous and his ego cant handle taking the back seat to Morris. I like Jesse but he will never be Jam and Lewis and Morris IS the Time. Plug in Tori or someone else and eep the music going!!! We don't need no Jessewave!!!

There it is. What killed me was when Jesse first bought this whole situation to light a couple of years ago on FB there were all these Jesse fans kissing his ass. Oh I respect you for taking a stand and the Time hasn't evolved. The Time aren't going to give you Curtis Mayfield. The Time are who they are. They are not gonna try and save the world. I'm a Jesse fan too and love his music but the the world nor the Time revolves around him. Don't laugh at my funk

And his solution was to go play for a Prince wannabe act "d'Angelo" . I personally dont think he added anything to D's band having seen them

I believe Jesse. For the first time, I believe Jesse is copping to what some of his issues are with the band. With that said though I don't believe his issue is limited to what he said with his latest post. I don't think he has enough respect for what Terry brings to the table as a writer and visionary. And it's unacceptable that he sh*tted all over Terry's O7even deal. All those songs he didn't like are outstanding, so in a way his criticism doesn't make sense... unless you've ever met Jesse Johnson. And I have. And within the context of a short conversation I had with him I can tell you that's how Jesse is. He isn't an actor, things have to be real to him. He genuinely does get offended if he thinks that YOU think he is playing guitar on the classic Time records. What he said in that radio interview is real. I said, "Hey, man, I love your record" meaning Verbal Penetration and he started getting huffy because he thought I meant The Time. I told Jimmy Jam how much I liked his work and he smiled and said "THANK YOU". Big difference. Monte, Jellybean, Jerome just took the praise and kept me laughing. They understood that a compliment is a compliment, but for Jesse the particulars of things matter. So I believe that he does have issues with the way some of his music came out even if, in the end, the song is phenomenal. He is unwilling to accept it even if the final product is potentially something better. I've known people like that so I can't blame Jesse for just being a human being. It's sad that The Time is broken up over what seems like an unprofessional attitude toward minor issues (after all the songs he is bitching about are hot), but given his latest explanation I don't really want to hear anything more from him about it. I hope Jesse works it out eventually with the guys. Meanwhile Flyteyme has a hot new project coming soon, and Morris is on it, so I'm pumped for the new material because I know it's going to be hot.

During the Pandemonium era Jesse seemed to have issues with The Time and his personal life. I believe it was 1991 when ET reported that he attempted to kill himself over a girlfriend. Don't laugh at my funk

True. Jesse is only human. He's clearly moved on from The Time. I'm sure his new music will be great.

That may be true but not everybody attempts a suiciide on their life. I'm glad he put that chapter behind him and he's good and the music is still on point but let's not act like his shit don't stink too. Don't laugh at my funk

what bothers me so much with jesse is he get so offended and goes 2 great lengths 2 defend it when people call him a protege of prince saying he was in a band before prince well honey nobody ever never heard of ya be4 prince u wasnt on nobody label or none of that be4 prince he should be thankful 4 what he had instead of always bitching. truth b told every single member of the time is very talented they all write music and play various instruments so its not like any of em kim k. jesse doesnt say much 4 himself 2 me he left the time 2 go work 4 a prince wanna be danglo he didt go solo he left a band he was historiclly apart of 2 go 2 a minor artiost like dangelo. jesse is very talented yet seems to lack common sense

I'm not buying Jesse's nonsense about the lyrics. If he were that offended by Blondie why he didn't make it known until 2 decades later. I also think he's reaching on Sick. Every Time/O7 fan knows the lyrics are just a figure of speech. It just seems Jesse is just a bit of a social media attention whore. Don't laugh at my funk
