very nice of Prince to get her a gig on that show = more exposure

still doubt anyone will buy her album

loved the hornz but the song sucks eggs and goes nowhere fast and has no edge

"Why Do U Lie?".............give me a break

nobody needs to use the word 'monkey' either but maybe someone said that because her short haircut kind of makes her look a little like Curious George?

she has a great voice though

folks on twitter loved it and said they weere buying..of course they are unbiased

The vibe is very different from her first album but she has a much much bigger audience this time around so I'm sure it'll sell more than her previous outing.

And IMO the song is great. Loved it when I first heard and bought it immediately.

Change it one more time..

I forgot that I purchased that single "Why Do You Lie" over 2 months ago when it was on Amazon, along with her single "I decided" which is another nice track, but wish it was longer. I look forward on purchasing her album on 2/18/14. She has an amazing voice.

^I know quite a few fans who are buying her album, for the fact they like her sound, and her voice is way better than the manufactured so-called talent being promoted by some in the music industry. She has a singing voice that many parents pay big money for their children to have that kind of singing talent like Liv. Besides she has some of the best musicians backing her up, so I believe she will do just fine. [Edited 1/29/14 15:07pm]

I watched it again. Great performance! cool Liv is on her way! biggrin

The song is "meh" but the performance was great.

And it was fun to see Prince in the background.

I agree. however, this is an example of a performance enhancing the song. That performance has gotten her major press in the past several days..

I think many artists' songs tend to have a more dramatic effect, and gives more of an edge to it, when it's performed live by the artist, rather than the studio version, as you get to see the artist improvise/express the lyrics of the song, and you can connect to the artist more seeing them perform live. You get more of a 'live' feel of the song when it's performed live, and it also depends on how the artist performs the song. Liv sang that song just as well, during her performance at City Winery. It was one of the songs she sung that many were talking about after seeing her perform at City Winery, but of course if you're going to perform it on tv, to a much, wider audience, it's best to amp it up, which she did. I bought the single to the song about 2 months ago, and although I enjoy it, I felt seeing her perform it live at City Winery, and on Jimmy Fallon, had a more dramatic edge to it. For example, I am not a fan of Rihanna, but I remember when Rihanna first started out and she more or less would just stand there on stage singing, kind of not putting much effort, movement or expression into her stage performance style, but as time passed, she's improved her whole performance style, even though her music or style is not my cup of tea.

I agree with everything you said. Another good move by Prince was to have the choreographers from the BCW video coordinate the horn players moves.. They arent all over the place doing random shit anymore,, they were on it

Yes, the horn players' moves are pretty cool. It helped to center around the song, while giving Liv room to express the lyrics and improvise as well.
