Andre Cymone - The Stone vs Prince - Plectrum Electrum

Similarities: both are influenced by rock, Prince has a fro in real life while Cymone has the coverart with a fro, both are probably releasing theor ablum around the same time...

Differences: cymone is more influenced by authentic "old fashioned" grown man rock while prince is leaning towards alot more high school funky girlband version. Prince has a bigger fro than the coverart of The Stone has. Prince has more money and free advertising than Andre. It's kinda like iPhone, it'll promote itself because of the name alone. Who is remembering Andre outside of real nerds? Andres voice suits that pop rock style well, Prince voice... well atleast live he seems to get it. Andre could need some more confidense and a greater ego sometimes, cause combined with his talent he'll get bigger. Prince ego is big enough for days, his latest released music on the other hand... Prince is a helluva live artist, cymone could use some more edge and communication. Be less afraid, more charismatic. i know he can.

What do you think? I really hope Plectrum Electrum is better than I'm expecting it to be. No hate from my side. I love Prince as a musician anyways. I just wont pretend I like something I don't. I look more forward to Andres record. It is more in the direction of Van Hunt, but sounds alot less forced. Which I love, even though I also love Van Hunt. But sometimes you just want to kick back and relax.

Sounds like you have already made up your mind

which album you will like better.

Cymone makes "authentic...grown man rock"

& "I look more forward to Andres record".

Prince makes "high school funky girlband" music

& "I just won't pretend I like something I don't".

Both have already teased us with more than a few songs. If these songs would appear on the album, as they're most likely to be, I'm quite sure they're pointing towards the direction of their albums as a whole. However there are chances both will still surprise us to some degree. My mind is made up based on what I've heard so far.

No disrespect on Prince...Ha need to check out Andre's new CD more deeply it's " Real Music" I guess people will always put Prince and Andre's music ,but it shouldn't be like that both of them are very talented!.... I have faith that Andre will go very far with his new CD . Prince he will be Prince.

I don't think it's weird to compare the two when Prince has had the greatest success of them both, and the underdog for once creates something that I easily put over a lot of the material this living legend and icon Prince has released lately. I still love Prince as the musician he is, and he can't be so easily offended. It's all different tastes. I just find The Stone pretty damn good smile

At this point I dont care if any cd is better than Prince's. I feel Prince has already accomplished and set out what he needed to do. shrug I guess its fun to compare.

I'm going to give Andre's CD a listen this weekend. cool

Andre's track 'If Not For You' on his new album, would be great as a soundtrack to a fun/romance movie, or used as the rolling credits at the end of a movie. Andre's music has a Gary Clarke, Jr./Ben Harper vibe. I'll have to check out the rest of the album.
