Mazarati has new music out....FDeluxe have reunited.....The guys in The Time have reunited as 'The Original 7ven'....Sheila E. is still out there,doing her thing....Andre Cymone is working on a new album and even The Revolution reunited a few years ago for that benefit concert....

how about an Apollonia 6 reunion? a Vanity 6 reunion could never happen (for obvious reasons),but how about Apollonia calling up the other two girls and planning something? They could get out there and perform stuff like "Sex Shooter" and "Blue Limousine",and also a few songs from the V6 album ("Drive Me Wild","Nasty Girls").And since "Take Me With U" was originally intended for their album anyway,how about adding it to the setlist?

These girls were in a hit movie and are well-known by Prince fans.Plus,wouldn't it be cool to see the return of the mysterious Susan? And no,I'm NOT suggesting that they go out there onstage in lingerie and their underwear..LOL....throw on some nice dresses and take us back to 1984!

What do you guys think? could it work? Would you go see them if they came to your town?

and before you guys say that this is a ridiculous idea (lol),keep in mind that the Mary Jane Girls are out there,doing regular shows.....Granted,it's not all the original members.

They aren't strong enough for their own show (not enough hits for one), but the OBVIOUS thing to do is a 30th year Purple Rain Anniversary tour:

The Time (opening act)

Apollonia 6 come out and do Sex Shooter with the Time backing them.

Prince comes out and does Take Me With you with them and the Time.

Sheila E Solo Set with her band (including some Revolution Era members like Steph, Susie Davis, Eddie M (who currently tours with her)

Break

Prince and the Revolution

Performs much of hte PR album with other classic hits thrown in.

Encores:

I would die 4 u/Baby I'm a star with Sheila's Band membrers and Apples 6 joining onstage

Throw in a guest appearance from Dez to do his Modernaires song, and you get the Tour that should have been in 1984/5 but even better now with all the musicians having honed their talent even further.

And this would make money for EVERYONE involved, most of all Prince. Why? Because it would appeal to a wide audience with disposable income.

Fair enough, but the MJG hits were much bigger hits, esp In My House.

I don't think A6 would be a big enough draw. Also the MJG are a mess..... Jo Jo is still feuding with the others so there are like 3 versions of the MJG. They should all just make up and tour as together.

I still like my idea better for a A6/Time/Sheila E/Prince and the Revolution tour.

I agree,the Mary Jane Girls had bigger hits.I still hear "In My House" all the time on our local R&B oldies station and of course,"All Night Long" is an eternal classic.As I understand it,three of the original girls want to reunite and tour together,but JoJo refuses to cooperate.She would rather do shows on her own,with two backup singers I hate when that happens.

In my area,we recently had a Freestyle Explosion concert.It's one of those shows that feature a bunch of different acts on the same bill.I noticed that many of the performers were one-hit wonder acts.For example,one of the acts was Nu Shooz (remember "I Can't Wait"?)...another act was Pretty Poison (remember "Catch Me I'm Falling"?).So,if these acts can reunite and get a spot on one of these package tours,I see no reason why Apollonia 6 couldn't do the same.And given their Prince connection,there is built-in audience there who would go see them in a small club,too.

Your idea is nice too.I bet everyone would be interested in doing that,except for ONE person

Why not add Jill Jones to the group? On the '1999' tour and on the Apollonia 6 album,she was singing backup on those songs anyway.And in the new shows,she can perform one or two of her own songs with the girls (maybe "Mia Bocca" and "G-Spot").

Val Young (an underappreciated Rick James protege) was never a member of the Mary Jane Girls,yet she joined the group a few years ago,replacing JoJo.In fact,"In My House" was originally intended for her to record.

That's actually a great idea! Add Jill to my Purple Rain Reunion Tour concept and she can be on stage for the A6 set, do a couple songs herself, and then sing back up during the Revoultion set.
