The last couple of years I've read plenty of articles about Sinead being beaten by Prince but never actually heard her say it. The last time this topic was discussed here on the Org was end of January, I don't find anything after it.

I know that many of us didn't believe it (still have a hard time believing it because it sounds silly) but I just listened to this interview from 8th of March 2013 and she's describing the moment many of us have been speculating about.

Sinead is great. I love her madly.

I enjoyed the entire interview, she seems very normal, down to earth, it's nice to listen to her.

That whole beating story sounds funny but doesn't make any sense though... 2 grown ass people running around, spitting and beating...

She seems real and very down to Earth. I love her and enjoyed hearing her new song 4th and Vine, from her latest album How About I Be Me (And You Be You)?.

She also recanted the story back at the time she first put it out.

she's what you would call an unreliable witness.

In a word........NO.

I'm guessing with what I've read over the years of her, she's not completely ok in the head but I don't mind, so many people around me aren't, telling lies they truly believe in, just to get attention, a growing tendency in society.
I like the interview and despite the silly Prince story she has a nice vibe, didn't expect that.

He is a coward....I know this first hand. He treats everyone like shit,even his own family!! I bailed his brother, Duane Nelson, out of jail in 1990's... His half sister's were on food stamps and I sent them money via Western Union just so they could eat!! How do you figure??? Is P cruel, inhumane or just SATAN???

Great interview...thanks for posting. Liked the way she was so open and candid esp. about controversial events.

Quite amusing the image of P chasing her around cars in the Hollywood Hills and that she had to ring someone's doorbell to, as she says, 'escape the fucker'.

Although they didn't get along, I guess they are both headstrong, creative people not afraid to take risks due to their inner beliefs despite the possible costs, for Sinead it was the Pope pic and P for the name change.

some people gonna bash prince no matter what and always claim 2 know first hand on so many things. for every one story that claims prince is this or that its a opposite story.if prince is that bad everybody just put him on aisland by himself and call it a day.

If he treated women badly in the past, when he was very young, then there was a reason for it. First, high Testosterone level. Second, he is not a stupid person and knew that all or some of those women were using him. Third, he grew up in a broken home. People who grew up in broken homes are affected negatively and the pain last a long time. So they can snap at any time. I also grew up in a broken home and the majority of people in America did, so I and those other people can relate to him in that sense.

So because his brother is a criminal and his half sister is unable to make a living this makes Prince satan??? Even Jellybean, who bashes him hard in his recent interview, acknowledge that P has always treated women very well. Now I don't wanna call Sinead a liar, but it's very, very odd. It's be nice is a journalist dared ask P but the subject is probably on the "don't ask" list, this being said I always considered the lines "& if a woman ever said I did she's a MFin' liar & i'm a set-up kid" in DOW as P's answer to Sinead's accusations.

Sinead's own words in her Rolling Stone interview was that Prince VERBALLY threatened her. He never laid a hand on her.

Now if she said Prince had one of his body guards in her face then I would think she was in peril. Prince is what?? 5 ft and up to her titties? She could have easily kicked him with one of her steel toed combat boots she likes to wear and knocked him out flat on the ground.

What Sinead said in this interview about Prince doesn’t sound very, very odd to me at all. It sounds like another classic dick move by Prince from his days of wild. He probably thought these things would one day come to light so he wrote a song saying he never did it and figured his fans would believe he’s innocent and every person who doesn’t have something nice to say about him is a bitter liar who is only seeking attention or trying to set him up. I will never have a problem calling Prince a liar even if he and some of his fans believe if he doesn’t talk about it, then it didn’t happen. He’s also had a few songs about raping a woman but many will choose to forget those lyrics he wrote.

Some of us see a misogynistic, little, control freak that has a serious Napoleon complex.

I think he made the song to cover his actions should someone like Sinead O’Connor ever have the nerve to tell people how he threatened her, tried to scare her and lock her up because she insulted him and was too unladylike for his taste. He didn’t like her singing his song without his permission and he didn't like her using cuss words. He’s even gone as far as having a swear jar according to Questlove.

The "rape" lyrics (2 songs IIRC) were obviously pure provocation just as Sister was (obviously P never had sex with his sister) and besides, these songs have never been released as such, possibly because it's not something P wanted to be misinterpretred.

Sinead had already described the incident when P recorded and released DOW so if it's related it's an answer not a precaution.

The cuss jar was waaaaay later, when P became a JW, that's arund 10 years after the Sinead incident. Up to that point P was actually infuriated by the medias NOT wanting him to use cuss words (censorship of Sexy MF wasn't to his taste at the very least, as proved by his little provokation playing the first notes of the song on MTV in 1996 just because they had asked him not to use "rude" songs).

Thing is we got dozens of interviews by ex collaborators, and many of them, such as The Time or The Family members, Wendy & Lisa, Jill Jones, André Cymone, Michael Koppleman, Robin Power and a few more were really bitter about how they perceived Prince mistreated them. Still, none ever mentioned any kind of physical violence or abuse towards women. They denounced many things that definitely don't make Prince sound like a saint, and he's obviously hurt a certain number of people around him, but it was by being cold, selfish and insensitive, not violent. Prince has been with dozens, if not hundred of women and none of those who went public about it ever mentioned violence, whether physical or verbal. Sinead's story remains a totally isolated account. It doesn't necessarly means that it's a lie but it needs to be treated with precaution. Some people here are obviously waaaay too enthusiastic about this story for their faith in it to be intellectually honest.

I heard about the Vanity incident in Steven Ivory's book

Supposedly,he and Vanity got into a terrible argument,he stopped the car and made her get out.

as for the Jill Jones incident.....I first heard about it here,on this site.Don't know if it's true,but it's clear that she and Prince had a terrible falling out shortly after the GB movie.He was producing her second album but she didn't like the tunes he came up with.He was pissed and she wanted to get out of her contract but he wouldn't let her.

I don't know. I'd like to hear his side of the story. But, I definately don't believe she just made the whole thing up. Something happened.
