Be honest: What If you we're Mayte in the relationship with P?How would you handled things>

Okay, use your imagination right now. If you we're Mayte & you we 're in a relationship with P. How would you handle things. I would have handled things much more differently. Considering that even though I am only 13. I think she was very young & that she didn't have her own personality. My personality is the non-conforming type. No matter how much you would have tried to mold me I I could never be in a relationship with Prince cause I know that I am insecure & If its to much baggage for me. I know it is way to much baggage for the other person. I am an emotional person. I know Prince is sensitive..but not in a emotional way; like me. I am senstive both emotional & physical. I don't like getting physical alot cause I bruise so easily. I am not an emotionally closed of person at all. I am free with my emotions. It was one of the reasons why I had never had many friends in school. I'll never forget the day when I asked this girl why people didn't want to be around me. She said I always looked depressed & that I was super intense. Not sure If Prince could deal with that. I think he'd like a woman with a mystery. The women he seemed to have dealt with are such open books. I am an open book but I'll only open up If I truly know you. and when I do I'll never lie. I'd ask about him to people that know him. I'd see what I could gather.** ALWAYS keep others observation of a person you don't know in mind. Especially If all stories are the same.** Being a young girl (17) I am a new dancer for his band. I wouldn't deal with him on an intimate level. Thats clearly not why he brought me in. Its help to know your place & staying it; letting people come to you is extremely important. Once things started to get more deeper between he & I; I'd take things very slow. WE both know we've only known each other for so long. The slower the better..so once the relationship takes its natural pace it will form into a more deeper in depth relation. You must be friends or (co-workers) first. jumping into relationships are never good. If he decides I am really what he wants..The relationship will go through the next milestone; THEN comes to steps. We we're together for a long time & he decides to propose. I would decline first. Only If I didn't feel you we're ready for a true relationship. Only If if felt there was something in your system you needed to let loose. then once you've done all you've wanted. In my book you are considered ready. Marriage is all aout commitment. compansating..companionship. We'd have sex...**skipping all the way forward** I'd get pregnant with the child. First of all I would have nurses & doctosr around me 24/7. I'd move around the right amount as my doctor states. and I eat the amount my doctors states. I wouldn't let Prince control the baby & I health. He isn't a professional in the health field so he doesn't know. A vegan diet? [Out of respect, leave the baby out of this RIP - luv4u]

WHOA.

Out of respect? This looks more like forced compliance to an arbitrary non-rule.

Why can't we speculate on this? It's rude, certainly. not everyone's taste, and for some of us, not all that interesting.

But, why can't we speculate on it? Where is this written in the org rules?

The entire Mayte thing was a bit gross to me.

Not only was a full grown man (33 at the time?) carrying on correspondances with a 16 year old girl (who claims that she flew out to see him when she turned 18, but Prince actually plays with the idea and flaunts it on the Symbol album ill

"Why is age more than a number, when it comes to love? Should we ask the ones who speculate, when they don't know what it's made of?" Bitch, just because we don't approve of pedophilia and statutory rape doesn't mean we don't know what love is.

Probably the most shocking thing in their sham of a relationship was the Oprah interview, which was conducted almost immediately after their child passed away. Here was this young woman, forced to say some of the most bizaare and meaningly shit at the time. "I never called him 'Prince.'" So many facial ques and glances between the two indicated to me that something really sad was taking place. It's a VERY uncomfortable show to watch when you know what must have been going through her mind at the time.

I ultimately feel a bit of pity for Mayte. I want to say that if I was her, I would have done everythign differently, but the age and power dynamics in that relationshiop would have spelled doom for most women.

When Prince first saw Mayte standing in a crowd of people as his limo drove by, supposedly he told one of his bandmembers how he just saw his future wife. He said he knew Mayte was his future wife so if this is true bringing Mayte into his NPG wan't only so she could be his dancer and next protege.

That's it in a nutshell!! And because I do not want to get into any "textually altercations" with my fellow orgers, I'll leave it at that.

Wow. You're 13¿¡¿ Honey you should be playing with Barbie dolls and worrying about pimples, not something this deep. Come back and discuss when you're at least 18 or over.
Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

Don't dismiss her like that. Yeah, the conversation is deep, but it's actually impressive that you would have a 13 y.o. with this kind of mindset.

falloff Right and this would be another example of the negative things Prince feels he can do and if other people don't agree and approve of his pedophilia and statutory rape they just don't know what love is. He can't deny he didn't groom the underage girls, including Mayte who became his wife. I think he takes advantage of his position and believes certain laws don't apply to him. It's easier for him to take advantage of someone younger than him and/or fans who worship him and think he does no wrong. He's been doing what he does for so long it's become a way of life for him. The fact that he went ahead and did the Oprah interview to promote whatever it was at the time he was promoting, it showed he lives in his own world. Then soon after he and Mayte divorce he marries a fan who posted on a site similar to the org called alt.music.prince and supposedly she met Prince, started working for him and Mayte, then Prince married her. It's obviously not easy for women to remain in his world for too long. I feel a bit of pity for Mayte and his second wife because they were young and naive.

I listened to the Crystal Ball album yesterday and the song "18 & over" came up which reminded me of this discussion here.

I just rewatched the Bria interview (links on my Bria page).

Apparently Prince met her when she was 17 years old. lol

Her story is that she didn't meet him again until several years later, and each time it was through Morris Hayes.

But, I really think there's some grooming going on. The pattern is pretty obvious.

Albeit, a 16 or 17 year old is a far cry from an 11 or 12 year old; however, again regardless of age of consent, etc.--the power dynamics are such that I can't see how this is terribly healthy for these young women. At least, it's lucrative. lol

Say NO when your mother decides to pimp you out to a guy in his 30's, who she has a major crush on! Let yourself grow up as girls your own age are.
Not allow Prince to exile you to Spain while he carries on with someone who is supposed to be your friend and his assistant!
Wish you had hindsight, so you have the strength and knowledge to know what to do when everything starts falling apart and you have start living your life alone.

I don't think Manuela deserves any pity. She witnessed what Mayte went through as Prince's wife and I guess thought that it would be different for her. So, basically she played herself when agreed to enter into the relationship with Prince.

Let's not forget how he had his people track down Robin. She was underage when they first met and then several years later he had his people track her down and he started messing with her. He named her Robin Power, put her in his videos and his movie Graffiti Bridge.

*

It's lucrative for him but it's not healthy for them. I think some of the girls go crazy or they become religious fanatics. I don't think Prince has sex with underage girls. There are many similar stories about how he meets them when they are underage and waits until they are legal. He supposedly met Maneca, the covergirl on Madhouse first when she was underage and then he called her a few years later. I think he waits until they are "18 and Over" to bone them. You know his little ass doesn't want to go to prison.

*

I don't think certain family members were too happy when Prince started seeing Bria because he was so much older than her but Mayte's parents didn't seem to have a problem with putting Mayte in his care.

I can honestly say that I have sympathy for Mayte. I always have. I feel like she was put into a situation that was bound to end bad. Out of all the people/women Prince has done wrong my heart goes out to Mayte and Nona.

Yes, you know the saying that someone is turning in their grave? I'm sure that could be applied to Marvin.

Prince handled that situation in his classic "complete ass" form. Couldn't he have simply told Nona that it was over. Why invite the girl to a concert and go through that whole scenerio? Basically, he used Mayte to do his dirty work. But, then you know Mayte's was young, because she didn't register that he could do the same to her. I'm just a firm believer of "how you get them is how you can lose them." And in her (Mayte's) case, he played her with her personal asst. He shipped Mayte off to Spain (?) while allowing Manuela to play Mrs. Nelson, the happy homemaker!!!

Of course, all of the above are speculations....

Further speculations say, that there was a third young woman in the Prince/Nona/Mayte scenerio, who got dumped once the engagement was announced.

I also still don't get why he couldn't just man up and tell Nona face to face that he decided to marry Mayte, do you think Mayte knew about Nona - hopefully not?

Besides the obvious reason, could it be that Mayte got pregnant to get Nona and the others out of his life. Maybe she wanted Prince to marry her and she knew once she was pregnant with his child he would just drop them and marry her?
