Interview with fDeluxe/ The Family in Rockerzine.com Don't know if this was posted already? Lenghty interview with fDeluxe with them talking about their (work) relationship with Prince:
http://www.rockerzine.com...y-reunion/
Prince comes off as a really sad old dick, the way he handled their reunion and the use of the "The Family" brand. The article reaffirms the image of Prince being a control freak who probably has no real friends.
I find it really sad and disturbing: Prince, a man so gifted, rich and famous, yet acting so stubborn and pathetic??? He seems really lost in his way of dealing with people, and has been pissing off so many old and new friends over the years.
I sense an immense loneliness when I think of Prince, even more so in recent years. I really wish he would just open up his heart a bit more, put aside his huge "ego", and heal the relationships with his old friends and bandmates. He would feel so much better for it! RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

I wish I would have taken Paul up on his offer when the band reformed as fDeluxe and he invited me to chat on a live stream about MY experience in “Paisley Park Universe”. Back then I cared about upsetting Prince so I declined.
If Prince called Susannah belligerent for basically telling him her children are her main concern but she wanted to give attention to his phone call then he’s just out of touch and very egotistical. I guess he didn’t like her tone. I like how Paul and Susannah speak their mind and I feel sorry for Prince after reading this interview that is good but has lots of typos.

Wow, just reading that interview makes you wonder how difficult it has to be for new musicians/artists who have been in the game for years, and if they don't have a hit circulating on the radio, then it seems it's much harder to get booked for shows. I guess with all the music being snatched for free by the internet, it's so much harder forindependent musicians/artists to make money from music these days, unless you're a well-known musician/artist with a large fan base or have a record labelexec working hard to promote you.

Great interview. They are so open and honest and mature. And the way interacting with Prince is described leaves me with a big huh? Sassey - you were in Prince's circle? Cool. ...every night another symphony...

Wow, what a great read, hope things start to pan out a bit more for them now, especially after their Carnegie performance!!!
I just don't get why after all these years Prince is making it do difficult for them, not like they are doing it behind his back or anything. And after all the issues he has had with WB, you'd think he'd be a tad more sympathetic!!! Sassey, care to elaborate... That's a fascinating read, but Prince really comes away looking like a nasty piece of work.
I just don't get why he can't be nice. He's rich, there are people who respect and care about him, but he just shoves all that affection back in their faces and deliberately upsets people he used to be close with.
I know it's his art and he can do what he likes with it, but it's just not nice. Love4oneanother? Hmm.. I'm sorry but this has coloured my view of him even more as a person. Behind the media smiles and uplifting live show lies a rather withered, dark heart. [Edited 5/9/13 1:20am] "I'm much too hot to be cool"

It took some time for me to learn this. Sadly, I agree with you. I now see why he chose to hold a 'withered flower' in a recent promotional photo with him and his new 'Family'.

this is a great thread and a sad read. I started a thread on the main forum highlighting some of the quotes..what the hell has made P so bitter in his old age...these people loved him, supported him and gave up so much for him. What goes around comes around P!

I agree, P is digging his own grave. He's burned so many personal and professional bridges.
I wonder if he's just terribly afraid of his former band/group members overshadowing him artistically and in the press? We know they are all super talented and meanwhile his own career is in the toilet. Other than his live shows he's got nothing going on. I wish P would grow the hell up. Rick James was right, he needs a good old fashioned ghetto a** kicking.

Interesting!
Pleased to hear that my favourite tracks from that album (Lover then The Vigil) are also the ones Susannah said are her favs!
