So last week she was a guest again on one one of those blogtalkradio.com shows. Yes she preached of course but I always listen because she often will share anecdotes or something about her career as Vanity. Anyway, 2 interesting tidbits this time around:

1) She's in talks, nothing has been officially put into a contract, but in talks with someone to make a sort of documentary about her life. It would be based on the book she wrote. From what she was saying, it sounded like the project would feature her commentary/interview and also reenactments of certain moments in her life.

2) She shared a story about when she "first came to Jesus" about 20 years ago. Early on, "He told her" to destroy 1 of her cassette tapes that she kept. This tape was the finished and unreleased 3rd album! She said the new album was finished and ready to go but that she destroyed the tape. Obviously that wasn't the only copy of the new album in existence, but I would assume after that day she must have gone to the record label and asked them not to release her music after her change of heart. Now, from what we heard previously, she had been working on an album in 1988 after she finished promoting Action Jackson. This tape-destroying incident had to have happened around 1992, when she first became born-again (but before she dropped the "Vanity" persona after her near-death experience in 1994). So this must have meant she never finished doing the album in 1988, and instead completed it in 1991/1992, though it never got released.

I'll try to keep track of her future interviews for updates on the possible documentary, and of course any more Vanity details she gives out. I just hope the documentary doesn't take as long as that book did to come out and btw in case some of you didn't know, Denise oriiginally had written a tell-all autobiography about 20 years ago, but after praying and thinking a lot, decided it wasn't right to release that kind of material and turned down the book deal. The book she came out with a few years ago has almost 0 gossip and is more about her childhood and then her becoming born-again.

oh and I meant to add that Denise said she "left her music contract" which is hardly surprising as I'm sure the label was pissed that she didn't want them to release the new singles/album

It's too bad no one ever leaked the album, as we now know it exists...

I've heard about that album before.These are the details (rumors?) that have floated around throughout the years...

***The album was tentatively titled Cherry Bomb and much of it was recorded in the late 80s.

***The album features songs produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis,Tony LeMans and....Prince!

maybe someday the album will leak (if it was really recorded)

I had the pleasure of meeting her in 1986 and she was so nice. A very memorable occasion for me. And she was even more stunning in person. Posed for pictures and so un hollywood. Love me some Vanity.

Also on the 3rd album was producer Jesse Johnson who wrote and produced 2 songs on the Action Jackson soundtrack and they (Jesse Johnson & Vanity) had a few tunes in the can for her 3rd album release they were really good friends TOO!!...I would love to hear what those guys cooked up for her i'm sure it was FUNKY in the Minneapolis Funk Vain.
