What Horn is Mike Phillips playing on the 21 Night Indigo Nights CD?

Especially on the 1st track of the CD on 3121 when Prince calls him out to Solo around 3:48 secs into the song? cool

he played sax, but he had an electronic clarinet type thing connected to a vocoder that he used

SpookyElektrix

this is how he plays the vocoder:

he uses a midi device called Akai Wind Controller which is hooked up to some synthesizer and the synth is hooked up to a Digitech Talker (vocoder)

Wow!! Horses 4 courses I guess. Best song on the cd & the tour 4 me. He could have gone on & on with that track taking it anywhere. I was at the Indigo that night & he blew the crowd away opening with this.

Bring back the fro P & release a proper double album. Enough of this 3rdeyegirl twitter crap!!

So on 3121 is playing the sax or the clarinet or both during different parts of the song? (like one at the beginning and middle of the song and different one toward the end of the song or end of the song)? cool Funky!

i can't remember, i had tix to all the shows and he did the same thing all the time, but he mostly played sax, and sometimes played the digital akai thing. i think sometimes he had one instrument round his neck whilst he played the other. there was also 2 other horn players, plus maceo, and candy on top at the first aftershow
