So what's the deal with the over 10 minute extended version?

I have it coming SOON its been dispatched and i can tell you the EXTENDED VERSION of The Dance Electric is FUNKY, its FUNKS,STOMPS & ROCKS!!

Arrived today. Different mix than any that I have in my library currently. Clocks in at 10:24. No information about this version in the booklet other than it is "previously unreleased" and is listed as "The Dance Electric (Extended Version)" (as opposed to "The Dance Electric (Long Version)" which is the 5:38 version). This could almost be considered an extended instrumental version, as the only vocals on it are various "background" vocals ("Dance, dance electric..."). The final minute or so of the track has a lot of backwards masked vocals, screams, etc.

Pretty different, very interesting!

NOTE - I've edited this post since my original post referenced some "skipping" in the track. I've since discovered that my computer screwed the first rip of the CD way up. Upon re-encoding, it sounds awesome, with NO skipping.

Yeah its an Instrumental Version. Ends where Prince screams at the end. They break down the last four minutes into basic snare and kickdrum and rhythm guitar all other effects taken out with Lisa and Wendys vocals only.

Glad to own the 11:46 version released on Funkenberry still and will add that to this collection on my Itunes . This whole set is simply amazing I cant wait to hear ALL OF IT

brilliant release extra tracks are very good. A pity they didn't release dance elecric with lyrics.

Favoutrite song on album is satisfaction .

I'm gonna have to order this.This album has always been one of my favorites.It's Andre's best album.Love the song "Neon Pussycat".

Is it just a copy of the vinyl rip Dr Funkenberry put up last year that fades before the skips?

If yes i'm kinda curious about the quality, are they using a soundcloud file as a supposed to be lossless source?

Every track on this release has come from the master tapes - there is even pictures of the tapes included in the booklet artwork

I was sad when the extended Dance Electric was not a perfect version of what was leaked to soundcloud, so I emailed Tony at Funky Town. He said that that the one on the new remaster is the only one on the masters and he knows this to be true cuz they worked with Andre on this. He said the leak is a clever edit. He also told me there was a Q&A with Andre for liner notes, but they were forgotten by Andre the day they needed them for their already extended deadline, but that they would be getting them out! Can't wait to read that! Still wonder if Prince has the version leaked tho'... There are a couple of things about it that seem like it isn't just an editing together of elements already existing... Anyone agree? I've been comparing.... Also wonder if some of the bonus tracks were not from this project but meant for his next cd, supposedly called "Strip" but never finished?.. Anyone have an acapella of Prince's version? Ha! Then you could make a real nice "edit"!!!

A clever edit? but there's a circulating bootleg of prince singing on that version, just the quality ain't great. Maybe it was a clever edit by Prince after the original recording of the track?

The story was that the vinyl rip was from an acetate being shipped around to get Andre a deal or something wasn't it? Maybe that particular master was never stored with the actual album tapes.
