Sonny T,whats he up to? anyone know? I have to say some of my favorite records are with Sonny singing. He has that soul/gospel grit that alot of singers don't have. Like on Count the Days/Get Wild/Good Life/Cherry Cherry/
I thought his singing on Exodus with Prince was tight. You either feel it or you dont. And I think alot of listeners slept on his vocals. And I liked his background vocals on Sons of Almighty and News from the Jungle,the two tracks he sings on that. But heres my questions: Can anyone make CDR's of those loop cd's Sonny and Michael did? I just want to hear what kind of tracks they gave to cats. I aint payin 300 per cd. Second: What is Sonny up to? Is he doin a solo project? Is Sons of Almighty recording? What happened to the Crayons and MPls Are any of Sonny's shelved projects circulating? | |

I really appreciate Sonny too! His bass playing and his voice, very soulful. I know that he's been touring a lot with the Italian singer Giorgia last winter. And he's playing with Jef Lee Johnson on April 3rd in Paris...that's what I know for the moment! Seeyou  | |

David, were John Lee Hookers vocals terrible?
Were Howling Wolf's vocals terrible? Were Tom Waits vocals terrible? Its about grit and the problem I have with people saying vocals are terrible they will contradict themselves by liking a similar vocalist with just as much grit as Sonny has in his voice. There is a difference to singing and not singing. And Sonny clearly demonstrates he can sing. Maybe his voice isnt for you. Ive always had a problem with Prince fans rushing to bash Sonnys vocals when they probably have some real raspy vocalists in their collection as well. My theory is they just want to bash him because they can. | |

He proves this completely wrong on the News from the Jungle album. He sings "This guy is still in love with you" A burt bacharach standard...no backups nothing. So what that tells me is alot of his vocal ability. Raw and soulful shit...and cool as ish. And David for the record,Luther would probably dig Sonny's voice. Not all singers have an elite attitude toward a voice. And This guy is still in love with you is dope. | |

But back to the topic.
What is he doing for projects? I heard Sons of Almighty second lp is in the works. But im wondering if finally a solo album is going to come to light. | |
