You can tell he takes a lot of advice from her, how?

He let's the backing singers "shine" to give his aging voice a break during shows - sorry to shatter the illusion, but everyone gets old.

Prince's voice is better than ever.Just like his musicianship.its nothing wrong with resting his vocal chords or taking a lil break to change clothes. He has done it on every tour in different ways..Just this way he let's others shine.

Stop acting like he is on his last legs as a per4mer!!

I really don't believe Sinead. Not because I'm a big Prince fan, but because if it was true it would have been big news.

Back in those days, I don't think so. Without the internet to watch them and report on their every sneeze 24/7, artists were very isolated from view and the mainstream court of public opinion back then. they got away with plenty without people in th general public being none the wiser.

At that time I had just begun my career in fashion working first at a still & film production company, later becoming an assistant stylist: the stuff I used to see in those years behind closed doors would get people metaphorically hung in the public eye today. When you are responsible for putting together projects involving celebrities, or if you have to see them literally naked all the time you get to see their both vunerable and crazy sides and they are often totally different from whatever face or persona they present to the general public. I'm very much from the old skool of "well...anything's possible"...and that's because back then, I saw stuff that was very much possible, very much unbelievable, and (thankfully for all of us) no one was around to report it and it was a raity for people in the inner sanctums to sell out for a quick tabloid payoff...in those days if it wasn't deemed worthy enough for The Star, The Inquirer (for the low brow gossip) of Vanity Fair (for the high society crowds) then no one paid attention. You got a paragraph or two in a magazine related to whatever field you worked in, and then people let the story lie and eventually just fall off...us being aware of every single celebrity having a big brouhaha taking place in their lives is a relatively new phenomenon no thanks to the Net and the advent of 24/7 Big Brother style tabloids.

That's not what I said.

You're saying the exact same thing I am - he's resting his voice during shows by giving center stage to the backing singers every so often, I'm just not sugar coating it. But to say his voice is better than ever is just being purposefully contrary.

Jesse use to live with Prince in his house during The Time's most popular period. So they obviously we're very close. Friends move on. Jesse became very successful after The Time. A lot of that had to with Prince's guidance.

That person maybe talking about when Prince had Jesse tied up during a food fight on the closing night of the successful 1999 tour. Everybody was acting crazy that night. It wasn't just Prince. But Jesse was pissed at Prince for doing that. But that was when they we're young. Everybody when they're young goes through practical jokes. Peeps here always try to blame Prince 4 everything..

Shelby is not shaping his sound in any way. She jujst fills time so its a longer show. I'm not dogging her beacuse I think she can sing well. She just does nothing to make the show better. she just helps make it longer imo. I'd rather see her with her own thing.

Sinead was absolutely right about the pope, the vatican was covering up the abuse of children, exactly as she stated at the time.

Even people who are mentally ill are capable of telling the truth. 'Mental illness' is not a synonym for 'liar'.

The crisis didn't involve a leap or a loss of faith, Prince has said, but simply the realization that it was time to stop acting like such and angry soul. "I was an expert at cutting off people in my life and disappearing without a glance back, never to return," he'd said. "Half the things people were writing about me were true."

there is no blame, but Prince being the boss, it wasn't just about being young

I'm just replying to the fact that Prince could easily have done that to Sinead

The most often-told tale involves Prince firing the then-unknown Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis from the Time in 1982. Jam and Lewis, all parties now agree, left a Time tour on a day off to produce their first record for the SOS Band. A freak snowstorm in Atlanta grounded them for an extra day, and the two missed a gig. When Jam and Lewis returned, they were summarily fired. Jobless, the two missed Purple Rain, so they set up as producers and went scrounging for clients. In the years since, they've produced everyone from Janet Jackson to Herb Alpert, becoming the other superpower on the Minneapolis music scene.

"I'm playing the bad guy," says Prince, "but I didn't fire Jimmy and Terry. Morris asked me what I would do in his situation. Remember, it was his band."

Do you see how scared Morris is of Prince? lol

Not that Prince is above appreciating a good old Number One with a bullet -- especially when he wrote it. "I love it, it's great!" he exclaims when asked about Sinead O'Connor's version of "Nothing Compares 2 U," which Prince wrote in 1985 for the Paisley Park act the Family. Is he sorry he didn't get to sing the song before O'Connor? "Nah," Prince says. "I look for cosmic meaning in everything. I think we just took that song as far as we could, then someone else was supposed to come along and pick it up."

p 48 chapter 4 Pawns Possessed: the Rise & Fall of Prince

The hostilities burst to the surface during the last show of the tour at Riverfront Stadium in Cincinnati. During their opening set, the Time found themselves being pelted by eggs from offstage. Gradually, they realized that Prince and some of his band members were the culprits. The barrage increased, and, toward the end of the set, Prince and his accomplices abducted Jerome Benton, a dancer for the group, from the stage and poured honey all over him. They they pelted hims with garbage. "They tarred and feathered him, basically," recalled Fink, who did not participate and insisted to the Time members that he wanted no part of the battle.

Then, as the Time's set ended, Chick Huntsberry grabbed Jesse Johnson and hauled him to Prince's dressing room. There, Huntsberry handcuffed Johnson to a horizontal coat rack bolted into a brick wall. Prince came in and began taunting Johnson and tossing Doritos chips and other pieces of food at him."This is what you get for talking about my mama!" Prince shouted.

The various members of Prince's band and crew in the room looked on with horror as the episode continued. "It was a cruel thing to do,"observed Bennett. Fink recalled, "I just sat there and said to myself, this is getting out of hand."

Humiliated and frightened, Johnson writhed in his cuffs. Finally, to the amazement of the onlookers, he managed to rip the entire twelve-foot-long coat rack out of the wall. His hands were still cuffed to the rack, which he began swinging wildly. "Jesse was uncontrollable," Fink said. "He just lost it. Chick had to contain the situation before someone got hurt."

Prince had all the best key players for his Purple empire, the Time and Jimmy & Terry could have been superstar producers working in Paisley Park, as Prince's protege groups increased and along with so many others in his bands and camp that were very good writers and what not, a lot of outtakes could have seen the light of day in different forms

The Time being missing from the Purple Rain tour and era was just disappointing

Definately, the Minneapolis Sound/Purple Music would have been founded evolved and just as big as Motown

these are people back then that played that music right, what we heard on the albums they were all able to duplicate live

So there would be no worries of someone changing the sound for the worse

Jill Jones might have had her 1999/PR era album and her Parade era album, JJ & Terry along with other could have helped Prince record and produce and put out a lot of that music like the Flesh sessions

Yeah, I already knew about the scenario about P having Jesse locked to a rail on tour, etc. I knew Jesse had once stayed with Terry Lewis when he first joined The Time but I had never heard of Jesse actually living at P's crib at any time. Him offering it to Lisa when she first joined his own band, yeah, I see that but I don't see him offering that to Jesse. Even in the beginning.

That's what I mean. If Prince wasn't sexing these girls then he wasn't breaking any laws.

It depends Statutory rape doesn't have to include sex.

http://www.sexlaws.org/wh...tory_rape1

Statutory rape is illegal sexual activity between two people when it would otherwise be legal if not for their age

In accordance with the FBI definition, statutory rape is characterized as non-forcible sexual intercourse with a person who is younger than the statutory age of consent. The actual ages for these laws vary greatly from state-to-state, as do the punishments for offenders.

Many states do not use the actual term "statutory rape," simply calling it rape or unlawful sexual penetration among a variety of other titles. These laws rarely apply only to intercourse, but rather to any type of sexual contact.

Dating someone without sexual contact cannot be considered a form of statutory rape, and is almost never illegal. All states have an "age of consent," or an age at which a person can legally consent to sexual activity and can then no longer be a victim of statutory rape.

Some states also have laws that take into consideration the "age difference" between both people involved. In many states, the more years there are between the adult and the minor, the more serious the offense. All states have laws with special consideration and age restrictions where a relationship involves a person of authority over a minor; this includes but is not limited to, teachers, coaches, assistant coaches, or tutors.

Generally, the age of consent is 18 in these situations and the penalties for violation of these laws are more severe. These laws change, and can vary depending on other circumstances. For more information on how these laws apply in your state, visit the Answer Board

Statutory rape charges can be reported and filed by the victim, parents of the victim, professionals in mandatory reporting situations, and in most states they can be raised by the state. California has been a primary example of this filing charges against fathers of pregnant women who are, or were, minors at the time of conception and doing it at the protest of both the women and the parents of the involved parties.

The term "Age of Consent" is a term not found in many state statutes, but rather reflects an absence of prohibition. As used on this website, the "Age of Consent" reflects the age at which a person can no longer be a victim of statutory rape; or, the age at which a person may legally consent to most types of sexual activity with another person. This age varies from 14-18 in all states in the USA with over half the states adopting the age of “16” as the legal age of consent.

There are still restrictions in some states on what type of sexual activity is permissible, such as oral sex and sodomy, as well as restrictions on the relationship of the two people involved, for example a teacher-student relationship. These restrictions typically run until the age of 18, though some states still have laws against oral sex or sodomy at any age. There are also differences in the severity of criminal offense based on the age difference between the adult and the minor.
