Yesterday I posted a link of what I thought was Tyka Nelson's newest song...but it ended up being Chapters & Verse. I had a whole bunch of windows open and was sharing a whole bunch of links with my friends online that I guess I got mixed up...obviously. I'm sorry, but who is singing???? It sounds as if Prince is eating grapes and singing at the same time...or has a really fucked up microphone. Is she trying to sound like her brother?

I like her song BOOm BOOm BOOM......and I love how the music is mixed..................

You know when I first started listening to her music I thought for sure that Prince was singing in the background! But she said in an interview that she doesn't try to sound like him, in fact she doesn't even here Prince in her voice. She said she hears her mother and father and she hears it in Prince's voice as well. I am going to look for the interview when I get back home (in a few hours) and if I find it I will post it here. There were a couple of really sweet Prince stories she told

Besides she and Prince are full blood siblings so it would make sense.

Here is the link to the interview Tyka did a few years ago. Around 30:00 or 32 she begins to talk about how she doesn't hear Prince in her voice like the rest of us do. She hears her mother and father in both her voice and Prince's voice. She goes on to say how that watching him on tv and being around him reminds her of their father. And starting at 37:00 she begins to tell a story about meeting Miles Davis with Prince. She talks a little more about him but in bit and pieces throughout

Just like the Jacksons, BeeGees & Osmond siblings it makes sense that her singing voice would sound similar to her brothers, they share the exact same gene's afterall.

I'm serious. Is this a joke? Tyka is a pretty good singer, and I like many of her songs.

But this is aweful. I mean, not Purple & Gold aweful, but still bad.

a good voice is trained..............daily to strengthen and tone the vocal chords..............a good voice doesnt always come naturally.
