Those lyrics could apply to several of Prince's interests from that era. Prince didn't give her daughter the happily ever after ever patent wants for their child, why wouldn't she want to hurt him?? Not much. The show was about how difficult it for women of high powered husbands to adjust to life on their own carving out an identity for themselves in the world.
In her case, think about the fact that this man was part of her world since the age of 16, she joined his band at 18, was totally sheltered for all those years...yada yada.
Also, she was finally at the point in her life to come to terms with the loss of her son, and also how difficult it is to have so many friends who are mothers and be the "childless" sidekick girlfriend. One of the reasons she had so many problems moving on in her life (it is hinted/subtly implied that) it is because there may not have been a grieving period of sorts for that trauma. By the end of the season, she connects with a therapist that explains to her that she doesn't have to feel lesser, because she was in fact a mother, simply one who lost her child, and that realization/validation was like a lost key to opening the door to let go of old things and make way for the new...like that damned wedding china she kept in the dining room. Po' child.

Meh. She was having that typical mother-in-law reaction to the ex-husband of her kid. I can't think of many mother-in-laws that are over the moon with joy about their kids' exes after a divorce

I always looked at the show as being less about the Ex husbands, and more about women of a certain age in life trying to re-create themselves after so many years of basically being a part of the shadow of a powerful ex-husband. The initial draw of course is the famous last name of the ex, but when you get to the meat of it, the show feels more universal because these kind of stories are shared by divorceés everywhere. Especially once we start inching toward or beyond age 40 . I remember the show thread for the first season some of the women (myself included) felt like the show was very OWN or WE Tv-ish

If you watched the show, what little there is of the two on it - it's obvious Mayte and her mother are very close. Mayte was still clearly very genuinely emotional about her relationship with Prince, for obvious reasons and ones we will never know, nor probably should ever know - Her mother is therefore very protective of her daughter.

My ex has some of my old clothes and china with my name on it too! Small world. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

What I want to know is what about her father. It looked like her mom lived with her. Has her dad passed away or are they not as close? Does anyone know?

Mayte does everything she can to get attention, right?
Mani, Kardashian, tweeting about Prince.
Prince his career went down when Mayte came in his life. I think that was not a coincidence.
And I do wish them both to resolve their trauma.
However, Prince was surrounded by great artists like Esparanza, Misty, Andy etcetera. I hope he is not going back to the level of a Tommy Lee prize.

Yes. Well, she didn't do her best to develop herself.
I mean, she went to Tommy Lee and just wanted to hang around the famous and rich.
That was/is her career.
And now that the camera's are on her, she gets into the trauma of losing their child and have that broadcasted
She could have worked on that trauma and put some effort in her individual development. Sorry, but a person who only develop themselves when there is a camera, so it enhances her fame.....I just don't trust somebody like that. 99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.
