Milennia, Milennia, Milennia... Where art thou?

What happened to this group? Why is this a recurring theme with Prince projects? It's like he's all excited about it for about a minute and then nothing.

Batdance

Well, they had their time at Paisley Park and then Prince got bored with them, so they had to move on.

Same thing happens with everybody. There's been so many side project acts and band members over the years that nobody can really keep up with it. In the last few years, Prince had members of the The Family Stone (Cynthia and Jerry) in the NPG. He dropped Rhonda from the NPG and had Larry Graham as his bass player. Then there was a percussion player named Ester who played a few dates and disappeared.

The Blackshire Brothers got the spotlight for a while. A rapper called DVS was onstage for the Hit 'n Run tour.

The best thing is that these people get a chance to showcase their talents, if only for a few months. They get to play in front of thousands of fans and be VIP performance artists. That's an experience that they can cherish for the rest of their lives.

Yes, there was an MSN group as well, but that was older. But they're both gone now

NPG Records really only has one artist on the roster and that's Prince. The resources just aren't available to groom and nurture an act like Millenia.

They had a lot of potential, but Millenia also needed something that only big labels can do, and that's Artist Development.
