Just got my copy from Amazon. Jumped straight to the Prince tracks of course... razz

I really liked Raise Up, loved Shoulda Coulda Woulda, kinda "meh" on Movin'.

I'll check the rest out later.

wink

Noticed 3 re-recorded tracks have the subtitle "The New Master". lol

Ehhh...

Not so much. After a few listens, I still agree with my former statements on the 3 Prince tracks. As for the rest? Not liking any of the "new masters" re-recordings. Originals. any. day.

Throw-n-down the Funk is alright. Sounds like Prince is on it to me even though he's not credited.

The rest of the album? errrrr, not feeling it, really.

Got my money's worth with Raise Up and especially with Shoulda Coulda Woulda. The rest is mostly just filler....

in my not-so-humble opinion...

wink

Agreed.

A great, solid funk album. Consistent and thoughtfully executed. The closest Larry has come to his classic GCS sound for decades.

The three new versions of older songs, are vibrant updates that are faithful to the originals.

No. Just... no!

Please don't encourage this type of thing. The originals blow the "New Masters" away.

Why?

2 legends on a record. As if they could help each other. And neither of them has something musically interesting to say anymore. Kind of funny! lol

It's a far funkier album than Prince has managed in the last few years.

Problem: this funk is so much old news that there's no need to release it at all. I'd recommend to listen to the good old records instead.

This cd is below average.

Graham should NEVER be allowed 2 sing lead vocals again.

this is exactly what I thought when I heard it. lol
