Nope. I met Drfunkenberry back in 2006 at a Prince concert in Las Vegas, along with other Prince fans who were standing outside the Empire Club in Las Vegas, waiting on line to go into soundcheck and the concert, when Prince was promoting Tamar. This is before he had his current site, and I don't think the person you speak of regarding this Katy Perry thing is the correct one, other than the fact that Drfunkenberry is the one who runs his own site at www.drfunkenberry.com,

i'm interested in it purely because prince penned 3 songs and probably produced

some and plays instruments on some.

She needs a great team behind her, who really believe in her and the record. But that can be a major, too or better an independent label, but with a good promotion team. I think she is very talented and her voice is just great. I hope Prince is not urging her to stay independent at whatever price because if you see people like adele, frank ocean or many other artists they can release their music in a normal way and be succesful....

And a little controversy about her woud help too...

Her FB numbers doubled when she joined the NPG so there's definitely a connection. You're right about the negativity here too. I've never seen such a campaign to shut down a CD release before a full track has even been heard. The fact that orgers start threads to simply put down music is very odd in my opinion. Why would you even bother if it's all so uninteresting in the first place?

I can be as sarcastic as anyone when it comes to Prince and his side projects (and anyone who might still be around from the old Prodigy/AOL/a.m.p. days would know that, but I am legitimately interested in Andy's CD and have developed quite a bit of respect for her.

She appreciates the Prince connection and is certainly using it to her advantage but she does not want to be looked at as a "Prince chick" and seems to be demanding some semblance of control over her career and album. I hope so for her sake, she doesn't need to end up like Tamar. Her career is cooked after her Prince experience, let's face it.

I have enjoyed the samples of the three songs we've heard enough to be intrigued about the CD. And I hope if she does some dates behind the album, she makes a Detroit stop. Now if the album sucks, I'll be the first one to review it as such, but I like what I have heard so far and I can't say that about Tamar or Bria's crappy albums.

Yes I love this and I totally agree that she appreciates the association but doesn't want to just be looked at as Prince's girlfriend. I also like that Prince is practicing what he preaches and giving her some freedom. From the pics it is clear that Prince is definitely in the picture and is helping her out/buying her clothes/recruiting band members etc but she wants to create this ere of mystery around her probably to maintain a semblance of herself. I also like that the setlist she posted on her site contains more contemporary songs which echoes back to her roots. Girl got an album, new band and is likely going on her own tour so the Prince association definitely helps.

When did she let the world know she's having an affair with P? She's always maintained that they're friends and they must not be exclusive if they are together. I feel like the difference with Andy and one of my gripes us that she's changed her style of dress to fit the mold of a Prince chick. EVERYONE knows she's having an affair and if she stood for the truth, she'd be at least a little more genuine, but everything is so fake about her, and as you said she is pushed for a music genre, that is not hers. She's no damn funk singer, and that fakeness again makes her unlikeable too. Since she's been with NPG, she got funky all of sudden, huh?! LOL

I am not the biggest funk expert, but everyone can tell you that there are genuine funk bands out there that may need some helping hand from Prince, so I am not supporting fakeness, for the very reaons I been a fan of the man and his music, if you get what I mean. The funk.

You might be onto something with this whole marriage or at least dating thing. I noticed her brother commented on her pic and was like "I'm glad y'all are doing something ther than playing ping pong " or something to that effect. Sidenote: he should just make this a double album like Lotuslower so at least we'd get some good solo stuff.
