BoDeans - Black and White OK, maybe associated artist is being stretched here, but I have just been dicovering the music of the Bo Deans, a heartland roots rock band from Wisconsin, USA. I found some of their CDs at a used shop pretty cheap and picked them up. T-Bone Burnette produced them initially and although they won critical acclaim, didn't have any hits or big selling albums. Interestingly, their fourth album (Black and White - 1991) was produced by David Z and recorded at Paisley Park (I am surprised I never knew that till now). Anyway, its a pretty cool album, mixing country-rock hearland anthems with cool, funky electronic sweetening, kind of like (here comes a gross overgeneralization...) Prince meets Springsteen. I also bought the first album (Love and Hope and Sex and Dreams) because the title captivated me - lyric from the Stones' Shattered, and the double live CD, Joe Dirt Car. Anyone else enjoy this band? Stand at the crossroads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths...(Jeremiah 6:16) www.ancientfaithradio.com
