Rumor is that Vanity left him because he became abusive to her. Thank God she got away from that man!

I don't know if that rumor is true, but I do know that in an interview from a couple years ago on blogtalkradio, Denise said he cheated on her. She forgave him and wanted to stay married because being reborn, she didn't believe in divorce, but that he ultimately chose to divorce her.

Yeah I read a tabloid newspaper about her divorce... years ago. This is why I can not state what I heard as fact at all... sometimes those tabloids (Enquirer , if I remember correctly) just add details to sell a story.

And on top of that he was a ho!The story is too bizzarre. Its one thing to rob and kill but the kidnapping and torture aspect is something I can't wrap my head around. There is no indication that Smith even knew the victims. Perhaps he got caught up with a bad crowd of thugs and gang members. Perhaps there is a drug element to the murders.
