Did Jesse Johnson play in D'angelo's band for the BET performance On July 1st, 2012, D'Angelo played the closing number for the BET Awards. I know the first half of the year Jesse was touring (Europe) with D'angelo. I know he quit The Original 7even to do this so I don't think he'll have a spot with them anytime soon. Did you see Jesse on stage? | |

Considering he played Bonaroo with him he was most likely up there. When  go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all  up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming! | |

Thanks. He just didn't catch my eye I guess. I saw a lot of Common, Beyonce, and Nicki Minaj, and of course the front man D'Angelo himself, and one other dude in the band. | |

I didn't notice him either but there were 2 guitarists on stage and I'm guessing he was the other one to his left. D'angelo put his arm on the shoulder of the other guitarist. I know for a surety that Jesse has been recording with him very recently so he is still in his band. | |

Yes! Jesse was playing the funk in the background.. will ALWAYS think of  like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. | |

Man Jesse Johnson had his solo thing, people know who he is, but it was D'Angelo's moment. I don't think people outside the org knows who is in D'Angelo's band. | |

And as everyone else has said, yes Jesse was there in the background playing. I knew it was him soon as I saw him with that hair sticking straight up. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince. | |

Sad but true. Only die hard music enthusiasts (as most of us are here on the org) really focus on musicians and the bands they play in.Jesse Johnson is in his band and is a MAJOR feature in his live show. If people don't know who he is they will quickly realize he is a major talent. D'angelos live show is a must see | |

Doubtful. If they haven't realized it in 25+ years, they surely won't now either. Is D'angelo really all that popular either? I don't follow music nearly as much as I did, but the only thing I can remember of him was the video where he was naked. TRUE BLUE |
