I can understand Andy being left behind but what happened with Sheila E?

I thought Andy had been spotted in Oz, she's just not performing at the moment.

Sheila and Prince fell out last year.

It was in Oakland, which is where she's from. Which is I guess why we were lucky enough to get her to play w/ him then. On stage, they looked like they just got done fuckin' and were planning on doing some more after the show. Weird that they then fell out with each other.

Nobody knows. Nothing was spoken about it. One day, they were turning it and setting the Coliseum on fire. Next day, Sheila announced she wouldn't be going w/ Prince to LA.

that doesn't mean they fell out. People leave tours for all sorts of reasons. Sheila has had health problems in the past. Also might have been scheduling conflicts. Who knows if she even was ever scheduled to play more shows?

Prince doesnt fark, he just reads to his women. Hence why she prob stormed out after the 2nd chapter.

Yeah, I dunno. Just sharing what the knowledge is. It has always been presumed that they fell out on not great terms, again. She was not having health problems, though, as she did some solo shows in Oakland a lil bit after.

They did fall out. It was fairly obvious from what she wrote on her Twitter at the time. She was very short and to the point about not playing any more shows with Prince at any time in the foreseeable future, and she didn't appreciate being asked about it.

I was at the oakland show with Santana and Larry etc... Prince and Sheila were definitiely in great spirits that night. I remember them both playing her kit and laughing and having fun, was great to watch.

Then I saw her play a couple of times in LA at the Forum so it must have been after some of the Forum LA shows... Cause I definitely saw her play a couple of times...

I wonder what it is... Don't tell me its something to do with him creating the name "Sheila E" and not allowing her to own her own name or something like The Time and The Family...

I wonder why he is so controlling? My wild guess is she wanted to be paid and he wasn't coming to the party.. Just a guess...

Rumor was that Prince called her in to perform with him at another show. She was out of town somewhere and flew in for it on her own dime and then after she got there, he decided not to use her that night.

That kind of thing must happen all the time though... Maybe she didn't get compensated for her lost earnings from her other gig... I guess thats part of working with Prince that she must be used to though. Unpredictable, last minute... I think its hard if shes not actually a band member... If she was a band member again full time she might be more willing to give up all her time and dedicate to supporting him however.. but as a guest star... it must be hard to manage... Sad...

Nope. She's not in the tour camp. I've been to 4 main shows and 3 aftershows and I have not seen her at all. Having serious doubts that her album will see the light of day now. Shame... I was looking forward to hearing the return of the Hornheads . Ah well...

Didn't he do something similiar to Candy Dulfer during the London stint?

I've read here that P and/or his staff had planned to have her and Larry opening on the same night by mistake, but that for some reason there could be only one opening act, and that at the last minute P chose to cancel her and keep Larry. Have no idea whether this is true or not, nor where the info comes from.

She was tweeting a picture she was sent from Australia though, wasn't she? The assumption being that it was from Prince.

Maybe he has her at home doing some intensive guitar lessons! Hell, maybe she's rehearsing with a band, Sheila E 1985 style (just to bring this post full circle)

what i heard was that prince and sheila e were set for the australian tour, sheila e was planning to be the opening act for prince, but at the last moment prince decided he didn't like her cover of 'lion sleeps tonight' and sheila was so angry she dropped out of the tour. could be a rumor but i think i might have heard that's what happened

BINGO! Doesn't it usually come down to that with Prince lately? Look at the track record with former associates. And of course Sheila is not going to come out and say anything specific, most always want to avoid completely burning that bridge forever. People that want to wait for the "Official word from Sheila or Prince" crack me up, do you not understand how Princeland works yet? Do you really think Prince is going to address this topic? Do you really think Sheila is going to completely close the door on the possibility of ever working with Prince again by publicly complaining about what happened? It's a $ issue.

As for Andy Allo, Toejam is correct, she was not on the Aussie tour. And I'm starting to worry we have another Tamar album on our hands with "Superconductor". I'd actually like to see it come out, the samples intrigued me. If it doesn't, hopefully a copy winds up in the "right hands".

Prince removed Sheila and her family from the San Jose gig,and got Larry Graham to open instead.Sheila's father wasn't too happy about that.I wonder if that pissed Sheila off,as well?

Yep,this is true.It was at the San Jose show.Sheila's father later said that he wasn't too happy about this.

Andy probably doesn't have a visa to go to Australia or if she does, she probably decided not to perform, I don't know. As for Sheila, it had to do with two things: scheduling conflict and Prince replacing her and her family with Larry. I think Sheila decided not to fuck with Prince after that. This is allegedly since I'm not clear how true that even is even though her statements following this seem to tell us there was trouble in the camp.

I can't really devulge anything specific without breaking a confidence, but I'm pretty certain P is psyched about Andy's project. I don't think it will be shelved.

Yeah this makes me sad. Whether its money or her family being bumped from a gig, whatever the reason. I hate to think someone as significant and long standing in Prince's life and career, such as Sheila E and him could or would be having personal or business problems at this stage in their careers... I mean I understand when artists are younger and more crazy and in the media storm shit happens and its completely understandable. But in 2012, at this stage it really just feels like Prince and his closer people around him should just be amicable and laugh things off. I mean really does there not come a time in life where we all just relax a bit and laugh, regardless of whose right and whose wrong?!

Don't know the reason but I do remember Sheila making the announcement that she would'nt play with Prince anymore a few weeks before her Unsung Show aired :

Don't know if that had anything to do with it but she never did or said anything bad or too revealing about him in the show : She gave him much love & respect on the show .
