My cousin and I saw this video for the first time at like one in the morning...on that old video show from Fri/Sat nights on USA Network...Night Flight?? Oooh...I was maybe in the 8th or 9th grade, 88 or 89 (I think it was around LoveSexy time...they did a Minneapolis night and played vids from EVERYBODY).
I had the album and had never paid too much attention to this song...until I realized Jesse was playing a 12 string guitar. I lost my mind. I had never even heard of a 12 string guitar back then and that shit raised my respect of Jesse big time. Started paying attention to "Black in America" after that and realized that it was a great song.
I miss those days... [Edited 5/12/12 23:55pm] She has robes and she has monkeys, lazy diamond studded flunkies.... | |

I LOVE Jesse,I really do. I have purchased everything that he has ever released and have enjoyed the bulk of it. That being said,I still feel the same way I did back in 1986 about this track... It's tacky & lame.To my ears the female background- singers totally ruin the song and take what was a bland idea for a song to begin with and make it ions more cheezy. Love Jesse, don't care much for this particular track.
