Describe John Blackwell in 4 words or less... Listening to ONA Live over and over again. One can't help but to admire th brilliance of Johnny B-Well. Here are my 4 words...
Fearless (he attacks the cymbals, and foot bass with furiosity!) Crisp -he's the cleanest, clearest drummer I've ever heard. Precise -always right on point, or right on the 'one' or the downbeat, even if he goes on one of his improvisational tears, he manages to maintain a constant 4/4time. Emotional -him and Prince are a good match, they both perform from the heart. It doesn't take a musically trained person to tell, when a song is played with feeling. Not Michael Bland for sure. I have met both of them. John was a prick to me. Michael and I got together and jammed...you do the math. John is a good drummer, but Michael is the Master! | |
