Its not at all about "accepting a past"... its about staying away from stuff (and people living in the former) that will cause you to return to that former lifestyle.

Yes that sentence in and of itself is a sweeping generalization, but I think you know what I meant in my post overall. Particuarly as I mentioned that I'm not on Facebook, as well knowing other people who aren't. If that's the only sentence you could take from my post to base your reply on, then what I write next my be a shot in the dark, but I'll give it a try anyway

Whether or not the application is a secular world invention is not the point; so is televsion, the telephone, and everything else you can think of that is of use to society. The point is that it is important to believers how you utilize the tool and application. For a clearer understanding why this is necessary for people deeply in faith, particularly people who take on a leadership role within Christian ministry, the best answer is summed up clearly and succintly by paintedlady in her posts #35 #88, #89.

Shunning things that have the posibility to negatively impact you and the life that you've built in your spiritual walk and growth is par for the course in many belief systems. As for tolerance, it's up to every individual to decide what influences are going to be apart of their world and in their periphery, whether the rest of us like it or not. Like I mentioned before, I don't have a Facebook page, but I do belong to other sites strictly for business networking; and I am stringent like a mofo when it comes to who I align myslef with- online and real life, and by all accounts (most importantly my own), I'm doing just fine as a result. So I doubt there would be an issue of her or anyone else who is selective about who they surround themselves with while "coping" in the real world. It's a matter of being true and consistent to the person you've grown into, and the direction you want to go in your life.

You know, a writer once made the point recently that in this day and age, who you surround yourself with reflects your image, your goals, and your intentions for what you want to experience and deliver in life. I believe that applies to the digital world just as much as it does real life. If people have a problem with that, in many cases it says more about the person whining about their perceived rejection than it does the person who was upfront and said point blank " look, this is what I'm about, and if you're into XYTZ then I can 't rock with you because that's simply not the road I'm traveling" .

Instead of directing all the energy and analysis into why a person may or may not reject you in and"online" friendship, it would likely be more constructive to move on and cultivate other connections. There are times in life when we have to realize that not every person is the correct fit for every.body. - whether it's online or off. It seems to me that it really just comes down to being mature enough to accept that, find other friends, acquaintances, and alliances that do fit- and keep it moving.

And secondly, Vanity isn't crazy, she's an ex addict with a personality that allows her to become addicted to things. That never goes away, its the same reason why a person who is an alcoholic needs to stay away from alcoholic drinks all together.

So some Christians can get deep and remove all other from their former lives, but that is only because they are weak and can not be around anything that may make them spiral back into their former selves.

Its about addiction and avoiding former demons, nothing about being judgemental towards those who are not in a Christian lifestyle.

See, this is why I like this lady so much. She's got good sense and we think alike.

Vanity is substituting one addiction for another. In order to rid herself of the drugs and fast life and demons, she totally immersed herselft into Christianity. I believe she got so rapped up, she actually believes she's experience all these "miracles" or raptures or whatever you call them. I'm not knocking her, but it's sad that it makes her appear a bit "off." I wish her well.

Yes, she displays erratic behavior. That's what years of drug use does to the brain. I believe she uses fans because the price of her book was way out of line. I have more respect for people when the just stay out of the public eye no website, facebook etc.. Why would she accept fans as friends on her personal facebook? To see if she can milk more money out of them. She should have a ministry page, promote a 7 step program or charities like the kindney foundation on FB.

I agree MissToi ........... On one hand its like don't call me Vanity or anything about Vanity but then everything she does to promote herself uses Vanity . Just keep it real . I wish her well though . She really needs a Unsung show : I know if she ever gets one , it's going to be a challenge interviewer her for mainstream TV :
