I promise to come back on this thread and say I was wrong if the album is fantastic. Hell, I will admit I liked her We Can Funk.
I will also admit that I havn't heard funk from our man in a long time. At the same time, I don't want to hear funk, I want to hear Prince, not some dame he is destin to break up with and put a half ass effort into a record so he can have some arm candy.
I've lost the direction of his agenda and I don't care. Until he brings another Prince record to the table, chirps on the guitar and his name on another forgetable artist is a waste of my ears. How people can stand by efforts like this is beyond me.
It ain't over? Prove me wrong Prince. |

Loyalty? Thats just crazy, he plays music. I'm loyal to my family but not a stranger musician, thats absurd.
HHmmmm, does my past 16 years in the Air Force fall under loyalty? I bet it doesn't, my commitment to Prince is more of a measure. Thanks for setting me straight, gonna skip work today and read the Vault, they will totally understand.
Maybe I will post a picture of my collection for you, just to prove my loyalty. You have no idea.

Oh please, don't be ridiculous. What are you talking about? Being loyal means accept everything Prince has to offer us fans these days, even if we don't agree with it or like it? I agree with Phillipg, I am looking forward to hear some new Prince material and it scares me to see how some of you come on here every day trying to make us look like some shamless haters, just because we are not accepting him promoting another protegee, we don't find talented enough.

You don't have to buy it or illegally download it or even listen to it from a distance. You could actually ignore it completely. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming! |

God knows what people would have said about them had we had the org though.

She deserves that if anyone chooses to give it to her. Everyone complaining about Andy Allo's snippets are the same people who bought most protege projects without hearing a single note. How many orgers have TC Ellis or Good Question in their record collection? Were they more talented and deserving of a deal than Andy? Was Vanity, Apollonia or Carmen? Now all of a sudden the fanbase wants subatance over style. The choice is ours as it always has been to either buy the product or not. Even with the downloads on Lotusflow3r you had to make the intentional effort to download Bria's music unlike having it thrown in with the physical release. I don't think it has anything to do with Ms. Allo herself. I think it is any woman Prince spends any amount of time with: dating or protege.
If she had a thread in Non-Prince, some people here would be singing her praises.
I like her voice. She sounds like an old soul and I wish her the best of luck. I hope Prince puts the amount of promotion into this project as it needs and/or deserves.
And I agree with whatever Genesia says.
No, even Alicia Keys gets criticism in Non Prince. I don't like Allo's voice. If Prince worked with Chante Moore again, I would support that because they sound very good together. Chante can actually sing. If he played instrumentals like he did in concert with Espy I would support that. Allo's voice doesn't do it for me and some others here. The other things in your post have nothing to do with it. If she could actually sing, the responses would be different. |

If you can't sing, it doesn't matter if you're on Venice Beach or in the studio with Prince. It's nothing I want to hear period.

I am sorry to say but is no logic in what HonestMan13 is saying. What is the basis of you saying that everyone here who is complaining about Andy Allo had bought most protege projects without hearing a single note? Do you know this for a fact or are you just assuming hoping this is the truth?
I don't think that people would pay money to buy and NOT listen to something they don't like. The Lotusflow3r project was a different issue. |

of course there is logic in what he says. No one has to listen to Allo at all. People are making it a point to complain about something they have absolute control over. They did not have to download Bria's album on the site and they did not have to listen to Bria's part of the Lotusflower project. It's bitching for the sake of bitching.
And even though we don't agree on this particular subject, I find a lot ofyour posts to be very well written and well stated. |

What he's saying is based on his own inaccurate assumptions. Most fans only listen to Andy's songs because she is promoted heavily by Prince. Not everyone here complaining has bought most protege projects as he stated as fact. I understand the point he's trying to make but I don't agree because it's simply not true. I think it is bitching for the sake of the goodness Prince is not giving to the fans due to the deceitful way he and Andy Allo have chosen, from the very beginning, to promote this project. People like me complain because it hurts me when I see Prince being insincere about his latest protegee's abilities only because she's cute and he can use her for his own selfish reasons.
Thank you BTW, and we don't have to agree. Debating is a good and healthy thing, unless it goes overboard and becomes bashing and pointing fingers at each other. I am happy to see that there some members here who can appreciate objective opinions and don't take everything I say too personally. |

I agree with you. Mostly all of Andy's songs are predictable and laking passion. Her voice is more suitable for jazz and soul. She ain't funky.
Y'know...this made me think of something. What is lacking in the Prince side projects these days? Sex appeal, baby! I mean...Andy is pretty enough. And for all we know, she might be talented. (Jury's still out on that, for me.) But where's the oomph? Where's the "danger" of a Vanity or Jill Jones? Or the in-your-face talent - plus beauty - of a Sheila E?
My feeling is that he has one of two choices where a protegée is concerned. Either the music has to kick ass - or the girl has to be sexy enough that nobody cares (and you just rely on the songwriting and production). If lightning strikes, we get both - but we know how that's gone of late.
This is why the recent side projects are falling flat - the chicks are just middling. Middling looks. Middling talent. Nothing to blow the doors off. Just
You do got a point there! |
