Thanks!! I'm surprised to see "Dirty Mind" & "Controversy" era tracks in the setlist-- would love to have heard this! I'm surprised they didn't do "Raspberry Beret," "Sometimes It Snows In April," or 'Around the World in a Day" also. I hope a recording of this show surfaces!!

You're right...if I recall correctly, I think they kind of threw that in the middle of Uptown.

The tracks from Dirty Mind and Controversy were actually my favorites in the show. The lyrics about freedom and sexuality took on new meaning when Wendy sang them.

It was rumored that an official DVD is going to be released, but I never heard any confirmation from a spokesperson for the event. If not, I'm sure we'll get a bootleg. Almost everyone in the audience seemed to be recording it on some device or another.

The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

Prince will never allow his songs 2 b used 4 a dvd. Those r his songs.....I figured Prince wouldn't participate. But good it turned out good 4 a good event. But attending their reunion years ago here in LA at The Forum where Prince successful 21 nites gig was. It just was not the same to me. Without the leader IT IS NOT THE REVOLUTION. They need a leader...

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

...and that leader was clearly Wendy last night. I just find it odd that people think that since they once were Prince's backing band that they can't do anything together without him. I personally like Wendy's voice and she can definitely hold her own.

But as talented as she is. Wendy is not Prince & never will be...But I'm sure she did a good job. I thought she did a good job years ago. But it was very odd without the creator & leader of The Revolution prince ......

I think it's a good thing that she isn't Prince, or we wouldn't have gotten a setlist like we did...no crappy covers, no one verse snippets of songs, a lot of screaming by some bald head chick, and so on and so on. It was what it was and I thought it was great! biggrin

I actually have to agree here. It was down and dirty and plowed through songs Prince would no longer touch or do a vegas version. Sorry but that is what he does these days. I'm not complaining...he can do what he wants. He already did this stuff raw years ago. It was just REALLY nice to hear again- whether we was there or not. And I'll sau it agoan- those musicians brinf stuff to the table I prefer over his current crop of backing bland members. That's just me.

I TOTALLY disagree, they had and have a leader in Wendy. The addition of Dez made it even MORE possible to do without Prince. Hearing the songs last night reminded me why I even loved Prince to begin with, sure he wrote a big chunk of them, but get this straight, these songs sound a million times better played by THE REVOLUTION! Let's see Prince's current band try to put it's foot in the ass of Life Can be so Nice like the band did last night. I know this fact kills Prince fans, but as a fan since the 70's of Prince, I can admit that what I don't hear in Prince's live music anymore, I heard in every note last night.

Prince may be the purple Yoda, but Wendy & Lisa and Eric Leeds also sit on the Jedi Council.

Of course they would! They were his band when he created those masterpieces. He taught them every note of them & they played them a million times after they were or during creation...So of course they would play them the best.

I hope a soundboard bootlge is in the works.

BTW as long as they don't use the name "The Revolution", there is nothing Prince can legally do to prevent a live album/dvd of covers of his songs.

yeahthat

It was much, much cooler to see Wendy in charge rather than Prince. Especially at the beginning of the show, Wendy had that kick-ass, break-all-the-rules attitude that Prince had many years ago but has since abandoned. I really wish the Revolution could go on tour without Prince, but that probably can't happen because of the various legal issues. Maybe the next time Prince invites Wendy to participate in a show (as he has done a couple of times), he could let her take the lead vocals on a couple of songs. That would be very cool, though I don't think Prince would do that.

Kind of similar to the setlist Prince has been touring with recently. Heavy on song from Controversy, 1999 and Purple Rain. Life can be so nice is the only real surprise. Of course Prince's shows are usually longer, so he manages to include more songs.

Glad to hear everybody had a good time!

The wooh is on the one!

No one has yet mentioned that Wendy absolutely NAILED the Purple Rain solo. I thought for SURE Dez would do it.
