How about Micki Free? hmmm When Jesse left the Time in 1991,Prince suggested to the guys that Micki would be a good choice....

how about Sheldon Reynolds? Former Earth Wind & Fire guitarist throughout the 90s.He's actually married to Jimi Hendrix's sister and during EW&F shows,he would often do a Hendrix tribute segment that was just sensational! And not only can he play,he can sing too.He sang many of the parts that Maurice White would have sung.He even took the lead vocals on "After The Love Is Gone".Very talented dude.

or,like someone else mentioned, they could just add Tori Ruffin to this tour. He's the guitarist with 'Morris Day and The Time' so naturally,he knows all of Jesse's guitar parts anyway lol He'd have to learn/rehearse the new stuff with the guys but that should be no problem....

When I saw the tittle, the first person I also thought was Mikki Free. He is period correct, has the chops, and has the pedigree. Let's see how he looks in a suit.

Prince!! He played backup to some chick in the early 2000's so why not the greatest band on the planet? It would definately help his "coolness" and image which definately needs help

Can't see why they'd hire anyone but Tori Ruffin. The guy's been in Morris Day & The Time for years now and generally is just a phenomenal guitar player

Tori would be great. He's been playing with the other version of the band for 16 years straight. He knows all the old material(which so far is all the 07 has been playing anyway) He does the steps. He plays the solo on 77. He can stay in the background or come to the front,. He's dependable and a team player.

BUT

They may try to distance themselves from "Morris Day and the Time". That's part of why they came up with a new name to differentiate between the two bands. I have a few guys I wouldn't mind seeing but I doubt they would fit it or even do it. If they don't get Tori they better bring somebody that can play that's for sure.

(as I just said in a different thread in this section)

ERNIE ISLEY from the Isley Brothers!!!!!

we know that ERNIE CAN PLAY HIS ASS OFF on the guitar..

I don't think Ronald is touring or planning on it..

I would even dare say that Ernie MIGHT see joining The Time to tour with them could be..

"a step down".. for him..

remember - he played with Jimi Hendrix

&

Ernie brought some nasty guitar to all those

POWERFUL FUNK CLASSICS

the Isley Brothers put out in the 70s..

I am going to see if Ernie has his own website.

if he does.. I will put it right out there:

"hey Ernie.. I've been a BIG FAN of you & your brothers when y'all BROUGHT THE FUNK in the 70s & into the early 80s.. my favorite group from the 80s - THE TIME - happens to be looking for a kick-ass guitar player to go on the road with them..

I'm sure you've got some nice suits/threads hanging nicely in your (spacious?) walk-in closet.. why don't you give Morris & the fellas a call & see what y'all can work out??

I SERIOUSLY WOULD SEND ERNIE THIS EMAIL TO ERNIE

in case anyone thinks I'm "joking"..

I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS..

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Please NOOOOO to Mike Scott!! Tori would be good and so would Mikki. Tori makes perferct sense though but Mikki would be a better hire for future albums

I think Dez or Miko might just tip Prince over the edge. Imagine they started touring with either and had Modernaire in the setlist or something.
