How about because she and Prince have collaborated together and performed together on more
than one occasion. Prince(and Chance Howard) contributed quite a bit to her second record "can'tneverdidnothin". I was told that information directly from her guitar player Joshua Lopez. Prince
sang and recorded a song she wrote called "Silver Tongue". She appears in an official dvd "Live at the Aladdin" She was just on stage at one of last European dates jamming with him and Larry. That's a lot of associating going on between them!

Yeah, and so did Wendy and Lisa and then the album was scrapped and started all over again sans Prince, Wendy or Lisa's contributions.

I guess you could consider Nikka an associated but, IMHO, she's an artist in her own right with a very minor connection to Prince. But that's just my take on her.

According to your definition, Lenny Kravitz and Miles Davis would be associated artists too.

Nikka live blows her recorded output out of the water. I've been to a few of her gigs and there is no comparison.

She should not be in this forum.

Have you you heard any recordings by Prince and Lenny or Miles? Nope! And Prince is actually on her second album. I'm sure he would consider her an associate.

Prince is not on Nikka's second album. Nikka's second album was released in 1983 when she was nine years old. Even if you meant her second adult album, Everybody Got Their Something, he's not on that either.

He's definitely on Cantneverdidnothin, which, along with their frequent performances, has people saying they're associates. Why the hubbub?

...Am I the only one who noticed that in "Push and Pull" it sounds alot like she says "Mr Nelson", although the lyrics say "Mr Nothing"?

Associated artists in my opinion is a forum for artists whose careers are defined by their relationship with Prince and their fame is largely attributed to him--Sheila E, The Time, Jesse Johnson, Wendy & Lisa. etc. Threads about artists who were successful before any work with Prince, like Chaka Khan and George Clinton for example should be posted in the Music: Non-Prince forum. And looking at the number of George and Chaka threads that get posted over there, it would seem that many people agree with me. So why is Nikka different from them? In the bigger scheme of things, it's not that serious, by I still question the inconsistency.

And Madonna and Kirstey Alley and Amy Winehouse and Gwen Stefani and Patty LaBelle and as already mentioned Chacka Khan and a whole lot of other artists as well.

With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A....

Fair points. I appreciate the clarification. nod It'd be like calling Ani DiFranco an associated artist, when she was bad long before "Providence."
